The Peri Operative Management Seminar was successfully held at Isra University Hospital, Hyderabad, with the aim of enhancing knowledge, improving patient outcomes, promoting patient safety, and strengthening evidence-based clinical practice.

The event was skillfully moderated by Dr. Isra Ilyas and Dr. Misbah Zehra , who commenced the proceedings and guided the audience throughout the seminar.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Azhar Hussain, seeking the blessings of Almighty Allah. This was followed by the National Anthem, reflecting the spirit of unity and patriotism among the participants.

Following the opening ceremony, Dr. Ayaz Memon delivered a warm welcome address and formally welcomed the distinguished guests, including Dr. Kashif Memon (ICU Incharge, LUMHS), Dr. Kailash (HOD Anaesthesia, LUMHS), Dr. Shaukat Mongrio (Incharge Eye Hospital), Dr. Aliza (Incharge CGF and Isra Graduate), Dr. Tahir (Senior Anaesthetist, Bone Care), Dr. Imran (Senior Anaesthetist, LMC Gyne OT), Dr. Niyaz (Senior Anaesthetist, Hyderabad), Dr. Major Amjad (Senior Anaesthetist, Hashim Hospital), Dr. Atta (Senior Anaesthetist, LMC), along with senior doctors and staff members of Isra University Hospital.

The seminar was honored by the presence of the Chief Guest, Director Isra University Hospital, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Kazi, whose participation added great value and prestige to the event.

During the academic session, Dr. Aliza and Dr. Kailash delivered insightful presentations on Peri Operative Management, sharing their expertise and practical knowledge with the audience.

An engaging panel discussion followed, featuring Dr. Waseem, Dr. Gul Fareen, and Dr. Kashif Memon, who discussed important clinical perspectives and interacted with participants.

Chief Matron Shehnaz also shared her valuable observations and feedback regarding patient care and perioperative practices.

A special address was delivered by Dr. Sirichand Raja, HOD Department of Anaesthesia, who emphasized the importance of continuous learning, teamwork, and excellence in patient care. As a gesture of Sindhi culture and hospitality, he presented an Ajrak to the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Qazi.

In his keynote address, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Kazi appreciated the organizers and participants for conducting a highly informative and beneficial academic activity and highlighted the importance of such educational initiatives in improving healthcare standards.

As a mark of appreciation, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Kazi and Dr. Sirichand Raja presented Ajraks to all distinguished guests in recognition of their valuable contributions and participation.

A special cake-cutting ceremony was also held in honor of Dr. Pushpa and Dr. Shubha for achieving the prestigious FRCP qualification.

Certificates were distributed among all participants in recognition of their active participation in the seminar.

The seminar concluded with the closing remarks of Dr. Zaman, who thanked the speakers, guests, organizers, and participants for making the event a remarkable success.

This knowledgeable and thought-provoking session was conducted under the supervision of the dedicated management team of Isra University Hospital, led by Mr. Israr Ahmed Solangi and his team, whose coordination and management ensured the smooth and successful ex*****on of the seminar.

PSIM Hyderabad Chapter Organizes Monothemic Masterclass on Evidence-Based Thyroid Medicine at Isra University Hospital

The Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine (PSIM) Hyderabad Chapter, along with Isra University Hospital, successfully organized a Monothemic Masterclass titled “Evidence-Based Thyroid Medicine. The Practitioner Focused Approach” at Isra University Hospital in collaboration with Isra University.

The Chief Organizers of the event were Prof. Dr. Adnan Bawany and Dr. Ghulam Fareed along with PISM President Prof. Imran Ali Shaikh whose dedication and academic efforts contributed significantly to the successful ex*****on of the masterclass. The activity served as an important academic platform bringing together physicians, endocrinologists, faculty members, postgraduate trainees, and students for evidence-based discussions on thyroid disorders and their practical clinical management.

The masterclass was honoured by the presence of Chief Guests Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi, Chancellor Isra University, President & CEO, Isra Islamic Foundation and Dr. Iqbal Memon, Chancellor Indus Medical College, Tando Mohammad Khan, whose participation added great value and prestige to the event.

The scientific sessions covered a broad spectrum of thyroid medicine including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid disorders in pregnancy, imaging and scanning in thyroid diseases, interpretation of thyroid function tests, thyroid nodules, surgical management, and updates in thyroid malignancies. The sessions were followed by interactive panel discussions and expert opinions, making the activity highly informative and clinically enriching for participants.

One-Day Awareness Seminar on International Fistula Day 2026 Held at Isra University Hyderabad

Hyderabad – May 21, 2026: A One-Day Awareness Seminar on Obstetric Fistula was organized in connection with International Fistula Day by the Pakistan National Forum on Women’s Health – Karachi (PNFWH) at the Qazi Asadullah Auditorium, Isra University.

The seminar was held under the IDEOF 2026 theme “Her Health Is a Right: Invest to End Fistula and Childbirth Injuries,” aiming to raise awareness regarding obstetric fistula, maternal healthcare, safe childbirth practices, and women’s reproductive health rights.

The event brought together healthcare professionals, gynecologists, obstetricians, faculty members, students, nurses, and public health experts to discuss prevention, treatment, causes, and the social impact of obstetric fistula and childbirth-related injuries.

The program commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an followed by a welcome address emphasizing the importance of International Fistula Day and awareness of maternal health challenges, particularly in underserved communities.

Prof. Dr. Pushpa Sirichand and Prof. Gulfareen Arain, key organizers and Heads of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, highlighted that specialized centers at Isra University Hospital Hyderabad and Karachi are providing free treatment for fistula patients. They expressed gratitude to the management and partner organizations for their continued support in delivering these essential healthcare services.

Dr. Ahmed Waliullah Kazi, Vice Chancellor Isra University, while addressing the participants, stated that obstetric fistula is a treatable and preventable condition; however, lack of awareness remains a major challenge. He emphasized collaborative efforts between Isra University, Isra Foundation, and partner organizations to strengthen awareness campaigns and improve community understanding of maternal health issues.

Prof. Dr. Sajjad Kazi shared that fistula treatment services at the institution have expanded significantly, and currently all VVF cases are managed free of cost. He highlighted the importance of teamwork in improving access to care and strengthening patient services.

During the seminar, speakers stressed that obstetric fistula remains one of the most serious yet preventable childbirth injuries, often caused by prolonged obstructed labor without timely medical intervention. Experts called for increased investment in maternal healthcare, improved maternity services, and greater public awareness to protect women’s dignity and health.

The seminar concluded with an interactive discussion session and a collective commitment to continue advocacy and awareness efforts aimed at eliminating obstetric fistula and improving maternal healthcare services across Pakistan.

Down Syndrome Awareness Session Held at Isra University Hospital in Collaboration with KDSP

HYDERABAD – May 19, 2026: Isra University Hospital in collaboration with Karachi Down Syndrome Program (KDSP) organized a Down Syndrome Awareness Session aimed at promoting awareness, inclusion, acceptance, and support for individuals with Down syndrome.

The session was attended by esteemed guests Miss Sara Asif and Mr. Furqan Hamid, Assistant Manager KDSP, who shared valuable insights regarding awareness, support systems, and the importance of creating an inclusive society for individuals with Down syndrome.

The event was moderated by Dr. Isra Ilyas and Dr. Misbah Zehra, who conducted the session proceedings and interactive discussions throughout the program.

During the session, Dr. Sana Zain, Prof. Dr. Akbar Memon, and Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hasan Mughal also shared their thoughts on the significance of early intervention, healthcare support, education, and community awareness for individuals with special needs.

As a gesture of appreciation, Ajrak and shields were presented to the honored guests in recognition of their valuable contributions and participation in the awareness session.
