A huge thank you to everyone who joined the Theriograduate Club for our insightful live session with Dr. Muhammad Qasim, a distinguished DVM, MVSc, PhD from the University of Melbourne, Australia!

Dr. Qasim shared invaluable insights into critical aspects of canine reproductive health, covering:

Understanding Pyometra: We gained a deeper understanding of this life-threatening uterine disease in intact female dogs, including its causes, the role of hormones like estrogen and progesterone, and common pathogens like E. coli.

Management Strategies: We explored both medical and surgical approaches to pyometra, such as antimicrobial use and ovariohysterectomy.

Breed Predispositions: We learned which dog breeds are more susceptible to pyometra, including Rough Collies, Rottweilers, and Golden Retrievers.

Advances in Reproductive Research: Dr. Qasim provided fascinating insights into cutting-edge research, including Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT) and the innovative use of organoids as models to study reproductive conditions.

We appreciate Dr. Qasim for sharing his expertise and all attendees for their engaging participation. We hope you found the session informative and beneficial!
