Vice Chancellor, The Women University Multan, Prof. Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool, has directed the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology to take immediate and effective measures for addressing the observations raised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) regarding Computer Science programmes. She also directed that students be prepared in a comprehensive, organized, and result-oriented manner for the National Competency Test and other academic assessments, while overall performance deficiencies among students should be identified and addressed on priority.
According to the university spokesperson, an important meeting regarding Computer Science programmes was held at The Women University Multan under the chairpersonship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool. The meeting was attended by faculty members of the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology. Detailed discussions were held on HEC observations, future strategy for their resolution, students’ academic preparation, improvement of performance in the National Competency Test, assurance of teaching quality, and continuous coordination with HEC.
Addressing the meeting, the Vice Chancellor directed the faculty to maintain regular, effective, and result-oriented liaison with HEC so that all observations may be addressed in a timely manner and the continuity of academic programmes can be ensured. She reaffirmed that the university is fully committed to maintaining high academic standards, transparency, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Prof. Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool further directed that the quality of teaching in Computer Science programmes must be ensured at every level. She instructed the faculty to arrange intensive preparatory courses, focused academic sessions, and mock tests to strengthen students’ academic performance. She emphasized that students must be prepared for the National Competency Test through proper planning, modern teaching strategies, continuous guidance, and regular evaluation so that they may participate in the test with confidence and achieve improved results.
During the meeting, various proposals were presented to improve students’ examination preparation, mock test performance, academic outcomes, and overall learning standards. It was stressed that faculty members should regularly assess students’ performance, identify overall academic deficiencies, and provide necessary guidance, support, and academic assistance according to students’ needs.
The meeting also decided that the university would provide opportunities not only to outstanding students but also to all eligible students, enabling them to demonstrate their abilities and improve their academic standing through structured preparation and continuous guidance.
The Vice Chancellor further directed the Chairperson of the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology to submit a weekly progress report on the matter, enabling regular review of ongoing measures and timely guidance where required.
Participants expressed the hope that through effective planning, focused training, sustained teaching quality, and comprehensive preparation, the students of The Women University Multan would perform successfully in the National Competency Test and other academic assessments, bringing distinction to the institution.
In her concluding remarks, Prof. Dr. Syeda Shahida Batool reiterated that in future admissions, the university would ensure quality rather than quantity, so that academically capable, deserving, and well-prepared students may be provided with the best opportunities for higher learning. She urged faculty members to further strengthen their efforts for students’ guidance, training, and professional development so that The Women University Multan may continue to uphold its commitment to academic excellence at the national level.
