International SULAM Webinar 2026: Advancing SDG Impact Through Service Learning

The Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies (FSPPP), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, in collaboration with the Department of Public Administration and Department of Environmental Sciences, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Pakistan, successfully hosted the International SULAM Webinar and Collaborative Teaching Session under EVA630, Sustainable Development Strategies.

The webinar brought together approximately 137 participants from Malaysia and Pakistan, fostering meaningful discussions on sustainable development, youth engagement, higher education's role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the transformative impact of Service Learning Malaysia-University for Society (SULAM) initiatives.

Insightful presentations highlighted:
-Malaysia’s SDG journey and the role of youth in driving sustainable development
-Pakistan’s progress, challenges, and higher education contributions towards SDGs
-Practical implementation of SDGs through SULAM projects that create real community impact

This international collaboration reflects our shared commitment to empowering future leaders, strengthening cross-border academic partnerships, and advancing the global SDG agenda through education, service learning, and community engagement.

FJWU and SAAYA Join Hands to Advance Inclusive Education and Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities

Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi, and SAAYA Association of Persons with Disabilities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote inclusive education, research, community engagement, and support services for persons with disabilities.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (Pride of Performance, T.I.), Vice Chancellor, FJWU, and Mr. Asim Zafar, CEO, SAAYA Association, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Sarwet Rasul, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr. Sajida Naz, Chairperson, Department of Behavioral Sciences & Chair of the Student Accessibility Committee, faculty members, and representatives from both organizations.

The partnership aims to strengthen accessibility, awareness, and capacity building through seminars, workshops, training programs, and collaborative research in disability and mental health. Both institutions also agreed to support skill development initiatives for persons with disabilities, including IT and soft skills training.

A key highlight of the MoU is the proposal to establish a Resource Center for Students and Staff with Disabilities at FJWU, designed to provide guidance, assistive support, referrals, and psychosocial assistance to promote an inclusive academic environment.

Speakers emphasized that disability is a human rights issue and highlighted the importance of equal opportunities in higher education. Dr. Sajida Naz underscored that the initiative will strengthen institutional efforts toward accessibility and inclusion.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (Pride of Performance, T.I.) said partnership reflects FJWU’s commitment to fostering innovation, inclusivity, and collaborative solutions that empower persons with disabilities through education, research, and capacity building while Prof. Prof.Dr. Sarwet Rasul appreciated academia’s role in advancing equitable education. Mr. Asim Zafar welcomed the collaboration and its potential impact on empowering persons with disabilities. Also, Director ORIC Dr. Hasham reaffirmed the University’s commitment to inclusivity.

The MoU marks a significant step toward fostering an inclusive, accessible, and supportive environment through academia-civil society collaboration.

Fatima Jinnah Women University Celebrates the Success of the Pak-Korea Taekwondo Program

The Directorate of Sports, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), successfully organized the Prize Distribution Ceremony of Batch-I and Opening Ceremony of Batch-II of the Pak-Korea Taekwondo Program.

The event was graced by Major General Ehsan Mehmood Khan, HI(M) (Retd), Executive Director, Fauji Foundation Overseas Employment Services (OES), as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza, (Pride of Performance, T.I.), Vice Chancellor, FJWU, attended as the Guest of Honor.

In his remarks, the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of combining education with physical fitness and character development while appreciating the growing cooperation between Pakistan and the Republic of Korea in promoting youth development through sports. The Vice Chancellor reaffirmed FJWU's commitment to empowering young women through academic excellence, leadership development, and meaningful co-curricular opportunities.

The ceremony celebrated the successful completion of Batch-I and welcomed participants of Batch-II of the Pak-Korea Taekwondo Program. It also reflected the growing collaboration between FJWU and South Korean partners, creating valuable opportunities for international engagement, cultural exchange, sports development, and women’s empowerment.

Special recognition was awarded to FJWU athletes who secured medals in the HEC Intervarsity Judo and Taekwondo Championships 2025, as well as to Mr. Muhammad Asad Rauf Abbasi, whose dedicated coaching has significantly contributed to the University's sporting achievements over the past decade.

The Directorate of Sports is promoting a culture of physical fitness, discipline, leadership, and student engagement at FJWU. Through its continued efforts in organizing sports programs, training opportunities, national-level participation, and international collaborations, the Directorate remains committed to the holistic development of students and the advancement of women's sports.

Innovation, Creativity & Entrepreneurial Spirit on Display!

Students of the 3rd Semester Economics and Finance Program showcased their innovative business ideas at the Entrepreneurship Fair 2026, organized by the Department of Economics on 18 June 2026.

The projects were developed and presented under the guidance of Ms. Hina Naz, Course Instructor of Entrepreneurship, providing students with an opportunity to transform classroom learning into practical business concepts.

The fair was inaugurated by Ms. Saima Dastgeer, Chairperson Women Entrepreneurs & Executive Ring Road Project, RCCI, and Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Chairperson, Department of Economics. During her visit, Ms. Saima highly appreciated the students’ creativity, confidence, and entrepreneurial mindset at such an early stage of their academic journey. She encouraged them to refine their ideas and transform them into successful startups.

As a gesture of support, Ms. Saima invited interested students to visit RCCI for further mentorship, guidance, and opportunities to develop their ventures.

The event reflected the department’s commitment to nurturing future entrepreneurs and fostering a culture of innovation among students.

Strengthening Global Academic Linkages: FJWU Engages with International Legal Researcher Dr. Kumm Sabba Mirza

Dr. Kumm Sabba Mirza, an International Legal Researcher at University of Southern Denmark and CEO of My Law Story, held a meeting with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (Pride of Performance, T.I.) and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Azra Yasmin of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) to explore potential avenues of academic collaboration and institutional partnership.

The meeting focused on opportunities for collaboration in the areas of legal education, digital learning, and research. Discussions also explored prospects for developing joint initiatives and projects with the support of the Danish Embassy, aimed at fostering innovation, knowledge exchange, and international academic cooperation.

Both sides expressed interest in continuing discussions to identify areas of mutual benefit and to develop collaborative initiatives that align with the University's academic mission and commitment to international engagement.

2nd Institutional Quality Circle (IQC) Meeting (2025–26) Held at Fatima Jinnah Women University

The 2nd Institutional Quality Circle (IQC) Meeting for the academic year 2025–26 was successfully convened under the auspices of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU).

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (Pride of Performance, T.I.), Vice Chancellor, FJWU and Chair of the IQC. The session was attended by Deans, the Registrar, Director Academics, Director ORIC, Director Student Affairs, Additional Director ITS, Additional Controller of Examinations, and Additional Treasurer.
The agenda was presented by Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Director QEC/Secretary IQC.

Key Agenda Items
• Compliance status of decisions taken in the 1st IQC Meeting held on 11 December 2025
• Findings and implementation plan arising from Program Review for Effectiveness & Enhancement (PREE) visits
• Outcomes of External Graduate Program Reviews (GPRs) and follow-up actions

Gaming World 2026: FJWU Students Bring Strategy, Creativity, and Community Together Through Interactive Gaming

The Department of Computer Arts, in collaboration with Gaming Club, showcased the Games of students under "Gaming World," an immersive on-campus event dedicated to card, board, tabletop gaming, strategy, and community building.

The event transforms the venue into a dynamic arena where students, faculty, and gaming enthusiasts can connect over a shared passion for traditional gaming. Special thanks to Dr. Hasham Akhtar (Director ORIC), (Ms. Mehar Bano Khattak Head of Design Department NCA RWP,) Ms. Isma Zaib Khan (Lecturer Animation and Motion graphics NUST), Ms. Kinza Yasmeen (Focal Person Gaming Club), Dr. Syeda Sana Zainab (Lecturer Commerce), Ms. Sidra Ashraf (Incharge Computer Arts), Ms. Afshan Jamal (Lecturer Web, Games and Graphics), Ms. Darakshan Batool (Lecturer Graphics, Digital painting and Motion Graphics) and Ms. Nuzhat Bashir (Assistant Director Academics) to brighten the event by their feedback and passion to play board and card games.

The event is organized by the students of BCA-IV, Sections B & D, under the expert guidance and leadership of Dr Tahmeena Javaid Adeel.

FJWU Students Redefine Modern Living at Home Design Exhibition 2026

The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), in collaboration with the Department of Computer Arts, successfully organized a Home Design Exhibition, at the Business Incubation Center, FJWU. Themed "A step towards learning to Design Better Living Spaces," the exhibition featured student-created home design concepts that explored color theory, spatial layout, furniture selection, and interior styling through creative design thinking. The event was open to the public with free entry and attracted a large number of students, faculty members, and design enthusiasts.

Students from the Department of Computer Arts presented a diverse range of design projects, each offering a unique vision for modern living spaces. The exhibits included concepts focused on minimalist urban living with compact apartments featuring multi-functional furniture, neutral palettes, and optimized natural light; color psychology in interiors with vibrant, zone-based color schemes designed to influence mood and functionality; sustainable and eco-friendly design incorporating upcycled furniture, vertical gardens, energy-efficient lighting, and locally sourced materials; cultural fusion integrating traditional South Asian architectural elements, handwoven textiles, and antique artifacts into contemporary layouts; and adaptive small-space solutions with sliding partitions, convertible furniture, and smart storage for maximizing limited square footage. Each project was accompanied by detailed mood boards, 3D renderings, material samples, and miniature scale models, reflecting the students' deep engagement with design thinking and practical application.

A distinguished panel of experts evaluated the student projects, comprising Ms. Rabia Raheel, CEO, Biaas Interior, and Dr. Waqas Ahmed Mahar, Professor, School of Art, Design and Architecture. The jury assessed the projects on creativity, technical ex*****on, spatial awareness, and practical applicability. Their thoughtful evaluation and professional guidance greatly enhanced the learning experience for the students.

ORIC FJWU extended its deepest gratitude to the esteemed jury members, Ms. Rabia Raheel and Mr. Waqas Ahmed Mahar, for their time, expertise, and invaluable insights. Their presence bridged the gap between academic learning and industry expectations, offering students a rare opportunity to engage with leading professionals. Both judges commended the students for their originality and encouraged them to continue refining their design sensibilities. Special appreciation was also conveyed to Ms. Sumera Gulzar from the Department of Computer Arts, whose vision, dedication, and mentorship were instrumental in bringing the exhibition to life. Her efforts in guiding students and orchestrating the event were widely commended by faculty and attendees alike. ORIC also thanked the Department of Computer Arts for their collaborative spirit and the student participants for their hard work and creativity. The event was held under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (PoP, TI), who has consistently encouraged research, innovation, and student-centered initiatives at the university. Dr. Hashaam Akhtar, Director ORIC, FJWU, commended the students for their outstanding creativity and professionalism. He highlighted ORIC’s ongoing efforts to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry engagement.

FJWU Students Bring Imagination to Life at “Designing Play” Game Concept Exhibition

The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), in collaboration with the Department of Computer Arts, hosted the "Designing Play" Game Concept Exhibition at the Business Incubation Center, FJWU. The event transformed the venue into a vibrant hub of creativity, showcasing original game concepts, innovative worlds, and novel gameplay experiences conceived by FJWU students under the theme: Play the Ideas Before They Become Games.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Sarwet Rasul, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. In her address, Dr. Rasul commended the students for their forward-thinking approach and the high standard of their conceptual work, praising their ability to turn imagination into tangible, interactive experiences.
