!!! Campanha nacional sobre as vacinas contra a COVID-19: Junte-se a estas Conversas com Cientistas !!!

20 a 30 de abril · Inscrições abertas!

Um ano após o início da pandemia de COVID-19 em Portugal, arranca a campanha Conversas com Cientistas - Décadas de Ciência para Dias de Vacinas. Esta iniciativa conjunta da Ciência Viva e de várias instituições científicas portuguesas irá promover conversas entre cientistas e o público sobre como é que as vacinas contra a COVID-19 foram desenvolvidas em tempo recorde, com a garantia da sua eficácia e segurança. A mobilização da comunidade científica para esta campanha é mais um exemplo dos esforços colaborativos que têm vindo a acontecer ao longo do último ano.

Entre os dias 20 e 30 de abril, cerca de 400 conversas irão acontecer on-line em vários horários e dirigidas a diferentes públicos - escolas e grupos organizados de cidadãos, nomeadamente empresas, associações e media, e cidadãos individuais. Para explorar as décadas de ciência que estão na base do desenvolvimento das vacinas contra a COVID-19, esta iniciativa conta com mais de uma centena de cientistas e comunicadores de ciência, de várias áreas do conhecimento, a trabalhar em mais de duas dezenas de instituições em todo o país.

Esta campanha é o resultado de uma parceria entre a Ciência Viva, o Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde da Universidade do Porto (i3S), a Sociedade Portuguesa de Imunologia (SPI) e a COLife, uma aliança entre seis instituições científicas - Centro de Estudos de Doenças Crónicas da NOVA Medical School (CEDOC-NMS), Champalimaud Research - Fundação Champalimaud (FC), Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica (iBET), Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (iMM), Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (ITQB NOVA) e Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC).

The EFIS Young Immunologist Task Force (yEFIS) aims to gather all early career scientists in Europe working in Immunology. Within the different European Immunology Societies, self-organised Young Immunologist (YI) groups have arisen in the last years. However, there has been limited contact between them. The aim of yEFIS Task Force is to bring all these YI groups together and build a European network to defend our interests on both a national and European level.

!! DIA DA IMUNOLOGIA !!

Celebrando-se desde 2005, o Dia da Imunologia é uma iniciativa internacional dedicada à promoção de uma maior conscientização para a importância da imunologia na luta contra a infeção, a autoimunidade e o cancro. Assinalar este dia em contexto de pandemia, chamando a atenção para a área de investigação, parece mais do que nunca oportuno. A imunologia é uma área central das ciências biomédicas e a investigação em imunologia tem uma expressão relevante no ICBAS, legitimando uma participação na iniciativa.
Falar da importância da imunologia é também falar dos seus atores. Por via de uma série de vídeos de curta duração, prestar-se-á tributo a três figuras do ICBAS que contribuíram para a afirmação e desenvolvimento da imunologia, tanto fundamental como clínica: Maria de Sousa, João Castro e Melo e Mário Arala Chaves.

Neste momento triste da SPI, não poderíamos deixar de destacar as contribuições significativas da Professora Maria de Sousa na área da Imunologia, assim como o papel chave e disruptivo que teve no desenvolvimento de uma nova forma de fazer ciência em Portugal. A Professora Maria de Sousa foi também decisiva para a formação de várias gerações de cientistas hoje distribuídos por todo o mundo.
O legado inestimável que a Professora Maria de Sousa nos deixa permanecerá cristalizado no nosso presente e futuro.
