Mais do que um espaço de diagnóstico, este seminário pretende ser também um momento de preparação e mobilização para o XIV Congresso da APS — um “aquecimento” coletivo que procura reforçar a visibilidade e a capacidade de intervenção pública da sociologia da educação nos debates contemporâneos.

O arquivo, antes domínio exclusivo de historiadores, tornou-se um espaço de disputa, criação e imaginação política. Rao convida-nos a pensar práticas alternativas de arquivo: escavação de arquivos fugitivos, curadoria visual e sonora, marginalia, anotações, visualização de dados.

We live in a period marked by the intensification of multiple crises and the flourishing of profound social transformations, with a global scenario characterized by uncertainty, but also by the emergence of new means of collective action, resistance, and social imagination. The youth occupy a central position, being a key actor in the production of alternatives, leading social mobilizations, innovative cultural practices, emerging forms of political participation, and experiences in building fairer and more sustainable futures.

This program aims to be an interdisciplinary space for meeting, experimentation, and dialogue with guest researchers, students, artists, activists, professionals, and members of civil society, specifically focused on critically reflecting on contemporary challenges and the possibilities of building possible futures.

Nina Amelung and Thais França
"Migration Experience Meetings / Encontros sobre Experiências Migratórias" at Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, on 23 June at 2.30 pm (Building 4, Room B226).

💡 In her talk, Nina Amelung will present a paper she co‑authored with Susana Ferreira on contemporary manifestations of institutional racism within Portugal’s increasingly securitized migration management regime. Their research examines how non‑citizens encounter differential legal, bureaucratic and data‑management treatments when claiming their rights. By tracing these slippery modes of doing differences that marginalize migrant populations, the authors shed light on the broader slippery politics of race shaping today’s societies.

🔎 Thais França, whose research focuses on the everyday experiences of racialised and gendered individuals, as well as the intersection of migration and decolonial studies, will discuss the paper.

Para assinalar este marco decisivo na democratização do ensino em Portugal, o seminário “40 anos da Lei de Bases do Sistema Educativo: Entre o legado e os futuros possíveis” vai percorrer o país com um programa que cruza a análise histórica e o debate sobre os novos tempos.
