TEMPH2014 will be the first meeting where an international group of scientists from Europe and America will convene to share and discuss cutting-edge environmental microbiology research that emphasizes sand and water habitats in temperate and tropical regions of the world. TEMPH2014 will focus on the Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology and Virology, of recreational areas for the purpose of creating synergy between water quality and public health professionals. Regulatory issues will be discussed by the participants. The combination of international expertise, a program designed to promote interaction and problem-solving, and the unique blend of emphases represented by this conference provides the unique opportunity to develop an introductory white paper aimed at providing recommendations with respect to addressing the link between beach sands, water quality, and potential human health outcomes. Ultimately the recommendations will be sent to national and international regulatory agencies and the World Health Organization. The white paper will be published in a peer reviewed scientific journal. Meeting participants with expertise in recreational water quality are invited to contribute towards the white paper.
