Northwestern Qatar scholars joined colleagues from around the world at in Cape Town, South Africa, contributing research, ideas, and dialogue on communication, inequality, technology, culture, and social change.
Faculty, students, and academic leaders participated in nearly 20 conference sessions, while Dean Marwan M. Kraidy joined the opening plenary examining inequalities and knowledge production in communication.
Through scholarship, collaboration, and the work of , our community continues to amplify perspectives from the Global South and contribute to conversations shaping the future of communication research.

Northwestern Qatar faculty, researchers, and students join leading scholars from around the world at the 76th Annual International Communication Association Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
Centered on the theme “Communication and Inequalities in Context,” ICA 2026 explored how communication shapes and responds to social, political, and technological inequalities. Through presentations, discussions, and research exchanges, the NU-Q community will contribute perspectives from the Global South on issues ranging from digital justice and algorithmic bias to media, identity, and knowledge production.
As a multidisciplinary community of evidence-based storytellers, Northwestern Qatar is proud to engage in global conversations that advance research, foster collaboration, and deepen understanding of the complex challenges shaping our world.
