Edu4PlastiC in Uzbekistan
During the EcoEXPO Central Asia and GEF days in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Edu4PlastiC project (https://microplastics.today) was diseminated and discussed also with members of the National Center for Environmental Monitoring, Green University, Samarkand State University, and Samarkand State Architecture and Construction University, to strengthen environmental education, innovation, and sustainable development across Central Asia.
Together educators, researchers, policymakers, students, and industry leaders (https://renovua.com) decide to address pressing environmental challenges through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and practical solutions focused on plastic pollution reduction, circular economy principles, climate action, and sustainable urban development.
The EDU4PlastiCircular Digital Library (https://microplastics.today/digital-library/) can help to expand regional and international cooperation thanks to its digital learning resources for higher education institutions and environmental professionals.

Edu4PlastiC and TIIAME Join Forces to Advance Water Sustainability and Plastic Waste Reduction in Uzbekistan
Edu4PlasticC (https://microplastics.today) and TIIAME National Research University (https://tiiame.uz) colaborate to promote sustainable water management, reducing single-use plastic waste, and strengthening environmental education among students and communities across Uzbekistan.
Thanks to educational programs, research initiatives, and community engagement activities, they encourage responsible water consumption while supporting efforts to reduce plastic pollution, under United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Plastic Education and Sustainability Assessment Take Center Stage at International Conferences
At the SUM 2026 – Symposium on Urban Mining and Circular Economy, researchers presented the paper “EU Educational Projects on Plastic: The Case of EDU4PlasticC”, showcasing innovative approaches to environmental education and stakeholder engagement, increasing awareness of plastic pollution, promoting responsible consumption patterns, and fostering circular economy principles among students, educators, and local communities.
At the World Symposium on Sustainability Governance26 - through the paper “Reframing Urban Sustainability Indicators through Life Cycle Assessment of Plastic Waste Management” the researchers explored how Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies can enhance the evaluation of urban sustainability performance by integrating environmental impacts associated with plastic waste management systems.
Together, these contributions underline the importance of combining education, scientific assessment tools, and governance innovation to address the complex challenges of plastic waste, highlighting the crucial role of education, life cycle thinking, and evidence-based governance in addressing the environmental challenges posed by plastic waste.
