"كانَ الصَّحابة إذَا زوَّجُوا بنَاتهم أَوْ أخَواتهم قَالُوا للزَّوج:
نُزوِّجك علىٰ: "إمساك بمعرُوفٍ أَوْ تسريحٌ بإحسَان".
- مُصنف ابن أَبي شَيبة

The devotion and spirit of sacrifice of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) has been mentioned by Allah Almighty in this blessed verse:
*When the worldly wealth and comforts were given to others, the glory of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) was that they did not even feel the need in their hearts to receive what was given to others instead of them. That is, expressing it with their tongues was a far cry. They used to be happy in their hearts that even though they did not receive anything, their other Muslim brothers received it, as if they had received it.*

﴿وَلا يَجِدونَ في صُدورِهِم حاجَةً مِمّا أوتوا﴾
أي: أنَّهم لا يشعرُون بالنَّقص إن أُعطيَ غيرُهم، وحُرِموا هُم، بل يفرحون لهُم…

‏«الحياة كبَد، ومَن لا يتألم لا يتعَلم»
*Life is all about hard work, he who doesn't suffer, doesn't learn anything.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ رِزْقِي فِي السَّمَاءِ فَأَنْزِلهُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَأَخْرِجْهُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ بَعِيدًا فَقَرِّبْهُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ قرِيبًا فَيَسِّرْهُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ قَلِيلًا فَكَثِّرْهُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ كَثِيرًا فَبَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ، وَارْزُقْنِي مِنْ حَيْثُ أَحْتَسِبُ وَمِنْ حَيْثُ لَا أَحْتَسِبُ، يَا رَبَّ العَالَمينَ...!

سُئلَ أَحَدُ الصَّالِحِينَ: هَلْ تَعْرِفُ رَجُلًا مُسْتَجَابَ الدَّعْوَةِ؟
فَقَالَ: لَا، وَلَكِنِّي أَعْرِفُ مَنْ يَسْتَجِيبُ الدَّعْوَةَ.
One of the righteous was asked: "Do you know a man whose prayers are answered?"

He replied: "No, but I know the One who answers prayers."
