TITTLE: The Wicked Stepmother of Ndembe Kingdom
In the green heart of the Ndembe Kingdom, where baobab trees watched over the land and the scent of hibiscus drifted through the air, there lived a man named Chief Adewale. He was a respected elder—kind, wise, and loved by his people. His wife, Mama Ifeoma, was the jewel of the village, known for her gentle words and healing touch. Together, they had one daughter, Amara, whose name meant “grace.”
But life, like the river, sometimes takes unexpected turns. One rainy season, Mama Ifeoma fell ill, and no remedy could save her. The village mourned with Chief Adewale, and young Amara cried until her eyes refused more tears.
Years later, when the pain had softened, Chief Adewale met a woman named Nkiru. She came from a distant village, dressed in fine wrappers and adorned with gold beads that gleamed in the sun. Her words were sweet, her smile warm—but her heart was cold and heavy with jealousy.
From the first day she entered the compound, Nkiru began her quiet reign of cruelty.
She took away Amara’s colorful dresses and gave her plain rags, saying, “A girl without a mother must learn humility.” She forbade her from joining the other maidens to fetch water or pound yam at the village square. Instead, Amara was made to sweep, cook, and wash from dawn till the moon rose over the palm trees.
When Amara’s father noticed, Nkiru would pour honey on her lies. She’d kneel before him and say, “Your daughter disrespects me. I only teach her discipline.” Chief Adewale, blinded by charm and confusion, believed her.
Still, Amara’s spirit remained gentle. In her loneliness, she found peace beside her mother’s grave, under the tall iroko tree. There, she sang softly to the wind—songs about love, patience, and hope.
One day, news spread across Ndembe: Prince Chukwuemeka would hold the Great Moon Festival and choose his bride. Maidens from every clan would come dressed in their finest cloth. Nkiru’s daughter, Obioma, preened like a peacock, dreaming of wearing the crown..

Healing doesn't mean you'll always feel joy. It means that when you face tough times or sadness, you have the skills and understanding to manage your emotions and get back to a balanced state. It's about coping and adapting, not constant happiness.
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."
