We are celebrating the debut of the inaugural Cognita Games, a U14 showdown bringing together Cognita schools from Singapore and Hong Kong for football ⚽, basketball 🏀, badminton 🏸 and robotics 🤖.

A huge congratulations to every student who competed. The energy, sportsmanship and brand new friendships made this a true celebration of what happens when young people are given the right space to challenge themselves. 🌱

We were also honoured to welcome Dan Norton, the all-time leading try scorer in the HSBC Rugby Sevens Series, who opened the event.

A special shoutout to our Boys Football Team 🥇 who brought their A game from start to finish and were crowned overall champions!

AIS Alumni: Where in the World are they Now?

As our latest cohort of AIS graduates begin their university journeys, we’re taking a moment to reconnect with our alumni to see where life has taken them since graduating from AIS.

Today, we speak to Amelia, Class of 2017, whose journey from leadership roles at AIS to a career at the heart of Silicon Valley reflects the power of an AIS education. We speak to her to find out how the AIS community prepared her to thrive across academics, leadership, and the fast‑paced world of technology.

Q: You served on the Student Representative Council for three years before becoming School Captain. How did the AIS community shape the kind of leader you became?

Amelia: AIS shaped my leadership in the most human way possible: through the people. Teachers like Ms Dethlefs, Mr Buckley, Ms Aitken, Dr Gravina, and Ms Siew met me where I was at different points in my teenage years, building my confidence when I needed it most. There's no more powerful lesson than feeling empowered by the people around you. That's the kind of leader I try to be, one who meets people where they are.

Q: You achieved a perfect IB score, but you also represented AIS in multiple sports. How did AIS help you balance high performance across academics, leadership, and athletics?

Amelia: Programs like the National Youth Achievement Award really taught me that balance isn't about doing less, it's about building resilience. Hiking Hong Kong's mountains, crossing New Zealand's volcanic terrain, raising funds to build houses in Cambodia, all while keeping up academically, you learn quickly how to manage yourself. AIS gave me the environment to push across multiple fronts at once, and those soft skills have proven invaluable in every role I've had since.

Q: What aspects of AIS’s holistic approach prepared you for the fast‑paced tech environment of Silicon Valley?

Amelia: Being a third-culture kid in an empowering school like AIS taught me to embrace change and that's exactly what Silicon Valley demands. AIS instilled in me a lifelong learning mindset and the adaptability to constantly evolve. I now run business operations at a high-growth AI startup, and I'm constantly disrupting my own processes with AI. That comfort with change, with uncertainty, with reinvention? That started at AIS.

The new programme offers 2 pathways:

General Scholarships for high academic achievers, with up to 50% tuition support

Specialist Scholarships for students excelling in Leadership & Service, Sport, STEM & Innovation, or the Arts, with up to 25% support

AIS Alumni: Where in the World are they Now? 🌍
As our latest cohort of AIS graduates begin their university journeys 🎓, we’re taking a moment to reconnect with our alumni to see where life has taken them since graduating from AIS.

Today, we speak to Jonathon, Class of 2019, who went on to study Economics at the University of Cambridge and is now working in the UK at Citadel, a leading global financial institution. We caught up with Jonathon to hear about how his time at AIS helped to prepare him for life beyond the classroom and for success in his chosen career.

Q: In what ways did AIS help you develop beyond academics?
Jonathon: At its core, AIS is about the community 🤝. I feel so lucky to have been part of a school where you're exposed to such diverse opinions and perspectives, and to have so many opportunities for education outside of the classroom. AIS teachers are very good at setting goals, supporting you to reach them, and then celebrating excellence when it's achieved 🎉. That culture of support and growth extended well beyond the classroom for me.

Q: What aspects of AIS’s multicultural environment prepared you for studying and now working in global settings like Cambridge and London?
Jonathon: Having been at AIS for almost 13 years, that multicultural environment became second nature to me — being exposed to diverse opinions and perspectives every single day. When I got to Cambridge, I was already comfortable navigating different worldviews and working with people from all walks of life 🌏. I'm genuinely grateful to the AIS community for nurturing the perspective and ambition that made that transition possible.

Q: Now working at Citadel, what skills first took root at AIS and continue to help you succeed in a fast‑paced global environment?
Jonathon: Economics has always been a subject I've been passionate about — from my very first lesson 📘. What AIS gave me wasn't just the academic foundation, but the mindset. I remember how the whole class worked together and helped each other as exams approached — that collaborative spirit, that sense of shared purpose, is something I carry with me. In a fast-paced environment like Citadel, the ability to work well with others while staying focused on excellence 🚀 is everything. That started at AIS.

The Secondary Musical Production of The SpongeBob Musical was a spectacular celebration of creativity, collaboration, and student talent. Featuring students from Years 8 to 12, the production brought the colourful underwater world of Bikini Bottom to life through energetic performances, live music, vibrant choreography, and imaginative stage design. Chosen for its humour, optimism, and heartfelt message about community and resilience, the show gave students the opportunity to fully embrace the silliness and heart of musical theatre, while showcasing the dedication and teamwork of the entire cast and crew.
