In today’s world, academic credentials aren’t proof that you can excel in the industry. It’s just proof that you studied for your exams.

What a TREAT it was for our students to be part of the PrintClub EduTalk + Sponsorship Signing Ceremony organised by Refine Printing 🙌🏼🤩
It was an enriching and value-adding experience as students gained firsthand insights from leading print industry partners including Ricoh, Konica Minolta, Kodak, and other key players in the industry. Through engaging sharing sessions, meaningful conversations, and networking opportunities, students were given a closer look into the evolving print landscape and real-world industry practices.
At MAD School, this is what we do — creating opportunities beyond the classroom to prepare our students not just for graduation, but for the realities of the industry, so they can step into their future with confidence, clarity, and readiness ❤️
1) Great creatives know how to THINK, not just create.
In a world of AI where everyone has access to tools to create something beautiful, the industry hires creatives who don’t just have an aesthetic eye but are able to understand the market, implement strategy and solve real business problems.
2) Your portfolio matters more than your grades.
I’m not saying grades aren’t important… but the industry values practitioners with a proven track record of real work more than students who can memorise theories and score well on paper. The creatives who get hired are the ones with a body of work that showcases their skills and excellence in their craft.
3) Invest in yourself.
If you’re willing to spend money on holidays for enjoyment, you should also be willing to invest in upskilling and personal growth. If you’ve never paid the price to learn — whether through courses, mentorship, or books — then you probably don’t want success as much as you think you do.
4) Learn how to work with non-creatives.
This goes back to point one. Creatives rarely work alone. They’re usually part of a larger project involving agencies, clients, marketers, and target audiences. Learn to think beyond your specific creative task. Understand the bigger picture: the campaign, the market, and the business objective behind the work.
At MAD School, we don’t train you to pass exams… we train you for the REAL world 👀
The truth is, the creative industry isn’t looking for grades.
It’s looking for what you can actually do.
This is especially true in photography.
We focus more on hands-on learning and skill-building, guided by lecturers who are active industry practitioners.
Real shoots. Real skills. Real feedback.
Less memorising. Less grade-chasing.
Applications for our Diploma in Photography & Digital Imaging (with AI) are now open till 22 April. DM us for more info or email us at [email protected]
In a world powered by AI, the true edge isn’t just what you know, it’s how you think.
Kenji Choo, Academic Director at MAD School by Chatsworth Medi@rt Academy, reminds us that creativity and critical thinking, are what set us apart.
Because when everything can be generated, thinking becomes your greatest advantage.
This is how we do it at MAD School: hands-on sessions inside a working professional studio, with direct mentorship from Mr Teo, an established photographer.
Beyond teaching, we’re shaping photographers who know how to deliver in the real world. 📸
