Teaching is what the teacher does. Learning is what the student masters.
In a traditional classroom, the syllabus moves forward whether your child is ready or not. This creates ""learning gaps"" that lead to future frustration.
Kumon bridges this gap. We don't teach to a calendar; we guide the individual. By focusing on self-paced mastery rather than just completion, we ensure your child truly understands every concept before moving forward.
Stop settling for ""covered."" Choose mastered.

Actually, itโs the exact opposite! By studying ๐๐ต๐ผ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ด๐ต๐น๐ in a "different way" at home, your child develops a deep level of mastery that school curriculum often moves too fast to provide.
๐โ๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ก ๐๐๐๐ ๐กโ๐๐ : School provides the "Social Game," and Kumon provides the "Individual Strength Training." When they are strong in their foundations (Reading, Writing, Calculation), they can handle anything the school curriculum throws at them with total peace of mind. ๐

โThank you for teaching me.โ
Yesterday, another moment happened in class that reminded me why I continue this journey as a Kumon instructor.
A Primary 3 boy had started learning fractions two weeks ago โ specifically the conversion between improper fractions and mixed numbers.
At that time, he struggled quite a bit.
As I observed him, I realised the real difficulty was not fractions themselves.
His long division foundation was still not strong enough.
So instead of pushing forward immediately, I persuaded him to spend the next two weeks strengthening his long division first.
To be honest, he was a little frustrated then.
Like many children, he wanted to move on quickly.
Yesterday, we returned to fractions again.
This time, everything looked different.
He was suddenly able to handle the questions much more confidently.
Even with large numbers, he could mentally process many of the steps smoothly because his division had become stronger.
And then came the part that touched me the most.
This boy โ who is usually very playful in class โ looked at me seriously and said:
โThank you for teaching me.โ
I smiled and told him,
โThis is the result of your own effort. You should thank yourself.โ
Then, very proudly, he asked me to show his worksheet to his mother, who was waiting outside the classroom.
The three of us stood there looking through his work together, and everyone was genuinely happy.
Moments like this happen quietly in Kumon classes all the time.
Children often think they are โbad at a topic,โ
when sometimes they simply need stronger foundations underneath it.
And when the foundation becomes stronger, learning starts to feel completely different:
less frustration,
more confidence,
and sometimes even joy.
Experiences like these are one of the biggest reasons I continue walking this path as a Kumon instructor.
Watching children slowly realise:
โI can do this.โ
โฆis something very special.
โCan I learn this now?โ
Yesterday, something happened in class that reminded me again what Kumon is really trying to develop.
A Primary 3 boy in our Maths programme has just started Level G.
He probably noticed some other students learning positive and negative numbers, and became very curious about it. I suspect he had even been secretly looking at other studentsโ worksheets and trying to study the examples on his own.
Yesterday, although he still had about one more week before officially reaching that topic, he kept asking me if he could try it.
Normally, I would follow the planned progression.
But seeing how eager he was, I decided to let him attempt a few worksheets.
What surprised me was not just that he could do it.
He had already completed his dayโs work, yet he was still excited to sit down and learn something completely new.
And he did remarkably well.
Moments like this remind me that Kumon is not only about advancing ahead of school grade level.
It is about developing children who:
* become curious about new learning,
* are not afraid of unfamiliar concepts,
* and have built strong enough foundations to understand things independently.
When children repeatedly experience:
โI can figure this out myself,โ
learning slowly changes from something forcedโฆ
into something they genuinely want to do.
That shift is very powerful.
Because true confidence in learning does not come from praise alone.
It comes from capability built through daily practice.

While many know us for math, Mr. Kumonโs first goal for home education was actually increasing a childโs vocabulary and instilling a lifelong love of reading. Hereโs why:
๐ฑ ๐โ๐ ๐
๐๐๐ก ๐๐ ๐ฟ๐๐๐๐: Before a child can solve a complex problem, they must be able to decode instructions and nuance. High reading ability is the secret weapon behind every "straight-A" student.
๐ ๐ต๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ : Reading isn't just about school; itโs how children "know themselves" and explore worlds beyond their own front door.
โก ๐โ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ด๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ก๐๐๐: We focus on speed-reading and early literacy (starting as young as 2 or 3!) so that absorbing new information becomes as natural as breathing.
When a child masters their native language, they don't just learnโthey think for themselves.
Is your childโs foundation strong enough for the 21st century? Letโs find their "just-right" reading level today! ๐
