“For this cohort of graduating artists, the subjects of their practice and the interests that they gravitate towards are many. They are contemporary in being of their time, as well as perennial and even eternal. In the snapshot that is their graduation exhibition, they present to us the forms, symbols, relations and methods of significance from their perspectives, and in so doing draw attention to our collective present within a continuously changing world,” writes Dr June Yap in her catalogue essay for the graduate BA (Hons) Fine Arts showcase.
As student curators Emma Chong and Michelle Loh shared of this progression, it is an emphasis on the nature of works in flux [...] In short, as artists, they are here to be seen, to be heard, not only as they are here, but with much more to come.”
Indeed, the Class of 2026 moves between traditional disciplines to emergent art forms like breathing. Embracing diversity, they graduate as more sensitive and analytical creators empowered to manifest their unique points of view towards art, culture and society.

🎼 The sound of Singapore, through a new generation of composers!
Last weekend, six student composers from LASALLE College of the Arts and NAFA took centre stage at the inaugural Mapletree Young Composers Initiative Performance & Award Ceremony, presenting original works inspired by the theme Essence of Singapore.
Selected from 20 submissions, the awardees embarked on a journey to develop their musical identity and transform their ideas into performance-ready compositions under the mentorship of their faculty. The concert marked the culmination of that journey, bringing unique perspectives on Singapore’s identity, heritage, and communities to a live audience.
Held in collaboration with Mapletree Investments as part of its SG60 commemorations, the initiative celebrates the transformative power of arts education and industry collaboration to empower young artists to develop their craft through such opportunities.
Congratulations to all six awardees! 👏✨

The BA (Hons) Musical Theatre Class of 2026 has been forged through fire.
Bring It On: The Musical connects the dedication, focus and teamwork required from the athleticism of cheerleading to the discipline of musical theatre—every vocal line, every razor-sharp formation, every repeated choreography run—and showcases the graduating cohort as the formidable theatre triple threats they are.
“Cheer for the lifts. Celebrate the harmonies. But also know that what you’re witnessing is the result of a true team effort built on trust, dedication and community,” says Programme Leader Dayal Singh.
Of their collaboration with the Diploma in Theatre Production and Management, he adds, “A lighting cue must land at exactly the right second. A sound transition must flow seamlessly. A set piece must move safely and swiftly in the dark. While you may not always see them, cast and crew together learn that success is shared and excellence is collective.”
As our graduating students prepare to step into the professional world, they carry with them resilience, discipline, collaboration and courage—qualities that will serve them in any path they choose.”
Congratulations to the all-stars! Meet the peeps at our digital showcase via thelasalleshow.com.

The graduands of the BA (Hons) Acting programme, with director Samantha Scott-Blackhall, presented a play about a play about a play—bringing an originally 14th-century drama back into contemporary focus by setting the scene on an unnamed island in 2045.
Swerving adeptly between roles as the enforcer and the entrapped, the Class of 2026 presented a gripping performance of the unifying human condition, showcasing their nuance and maturity as actors ready to enter the world stage.
“Live theatre is a powerful way to experience these stories about our responsibilities to ourselves and others. In a world that is divided and confusing, these stories become an important vehicle for self-reflection. They present a moral framework based upon kindness and compassion,” says Programme Leader Matt Grey.
“To the students, it is a privilege to know and work with you. I look forward to seeing you flourish and take your places in the world. Make it a better place—it needs you.”
Graduands, continue to tell great stories that resonate across people and place with your unique voices. We’ll see your names in lights very soon!
