The school name Qihua Primary School is the Hanyu Pinyin name of Kay Wah School, founded in 1938 by a group of forward looking pioneers led by Mr Neo Tiew, a philanthropist and resistance fighter and Village Head of Ama Keng village. In Chinese, Qihua means ‘rousing the learning spirit’ (启化). The school then expanded from the Main school to Branches I and II, to accommodate the quest for learning

Before the term came to a close, our P1 and P2 students taking Malay Language brought joy and excitement to the stage during Fiesta Bahasa Permata Cilik! ✨🎭 Parents were treated to a lively showcase of singing, dancing, and drama as the students confidently shared their talents and enthusiasm. 🎶💃🕺

The celebration started with an energetic Dikir Barat performance that set a vibrant tone for the event. 🥁🎤 Our P1 students then delighted the audience with cheerful animal-themed songs inspired by the stories they had explored in class. 🐯🦜📚 Adding to the fun, the P2 students impressed everyone with their humorous and engaging skit, “Siapa Paling Hebat”.

Beyond the performances, parents also had the opportunity to admire the students’ creative robot artwork on display. 🤖🎨 The event was a meaningful celebration of language, creativity, and learning, creating many joyful memories for both students and parents alike. ✨

Overseas Cultural & Immersion Programme 2026 ✈️🇨🇳

Two groups, one remarkable adventure!

16 Qihuaians experienced student life at Yiyuan Primary School, Guangzhou, while another 16 embarked on a journey of cultural exchange and friendship at Anzhen Experimental Primary School, Wuxi.

From forging new friendships and attending lessons in local schools to exploring historical and cultural landmarks, our students gained far more than academic knowledge. Along the way, they broadened their horizons, embraced new experiences, and discovered the value of connecting across cultures.

More than just a learning journey, the programme fostered empathy, respect, and global-mindedness, equipping our students with the confidence and awareness to thrive in an interconnected world.

Our P6 students had an enriching learning journey at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, where they explored the rich biodiversity of the mangroves and spotted fascinating wildlife such as crocodiles, snakes, migratory birds and other tiny creatures in their natural habitat!

Through the experience, they also discovered how mangrove plants and animals adapt to survive in this unique ecosystem. A meaningful day of learning beyond the classroom! 🌱

Our school was delighted to host a group of 6 teachers and 20 students from My Little Island School, Indonesia, on 21 and 22 April 2026. 🌏

Some of our P4 students took on the role of buddies and did a wonderful job welcoming our visitors. They showed them around the school and accompanied them during lessons, creating meaningful learning experiences and friendships.

Beyond our buddy classes, many Qihuaians also played their part by demonstrating excellent manners and conduct, truly representing the school as gracious ambassadors.

It was a joyful and enriching exchange for all, and we look forward to more opportunities to connect and learn together! ✨
