Ariel vet updates

Ariel went for a review one week after her life saving surgery. The upside is that her condition is stable. Her infection rate and white blood cell count, though still high, have both come down. However, Ariel is still not out of the woods.

She has to endure many IV jabs throughout the day on top of subcutaneous fluids as she is not drinking enough. She has also not resumed eating on her own and thus requires syringe feeding 3 times daily. Overall, it has been exhausting especially since her IV port kept getting stuck and multiple trips back to the vet were required to fix it.

Right now, Ariel still can’t go for walks but can be carried out for 15 min of fresh air. She will go back to the vet in a week for review and hopefully, remove her IV line. Her veins are all collapsing, Now the IV is on her hind leg which is not ideal as it makes it difficult for her to walk. When she p*es, the p*e also flows to her back leg occasionally and soaks the bandage. Nonetheless we are happy that she is stable and can’t wait for her to feel better and start eating on her own again.

Ariel’s bill + injectables was $1000 and has been covered. Thank you.

I often pride myself on making my dogs slightly rounder, not overweight, but some buffer for when they fall ill, stop eating etc . Like Waggly has become skin & bones but to start with, she has never been a greedy dog, not food motivated, and after falling sick, she is even thinner.

Mr White came to me, just about the right size. After a few months, he became round & cute ❤ like a mini dumpling. In recent weeks, he has shrunk . . . .cos he sleeps most of the day, hardly wakes to eat - even when you wake him to eat, he sometimes is too drowsy to eat. So he is rather small / thin now 😞 Thankfully he is still a happy little one ❤

Harper has an autoimmune skin condition and perhaps the weather has been really hot, her skin started splitting open with pretty deep holes. Thankfully it’s on areas that don’t affect her using her wheelchair. 🙏🏼

Her fur started clumping with all the meds so I just cut off all the fur and squeezed out some pus and cleaned her wounds so it can start healing.

Harper is the bravest and the sweetest; she continued sleeping while I did all that, or maybe very tired from our night walk 😜
