Talking Point 2026/2027 - Functional Drinks: Are They Worth The Premium Price Tag? A new wave of drinks promises stress relief, sharper focus and even better gut health. Talking Point investigates what’s really inside these functional beverages and whether they actually work.

snagged 1st place at the Al Ready ASEAN Youth Challenge, a regional ideathon empowering youths across Southeast Asia to use AI for social good. Big shoutout to Gua Yihao, Danish Gani Wong and Muhammad Aslam-bin Mohamad Fazli from the Diploma in AI & Data Engineering (C31)!

Their winning idea? An AI-powered platform that helps individuals and families find the right government support schemes based on what they qualify for. Basically, it uses rules-based logic + Large Language Model (LLM) technology to deliver fast, accurate and personalised matches—making support more accessible for those who need it most. It can even be scaled across public service providers.

✨ And here’s the glow-up: Aslam came in through EAE, chased his passion for AI, and is now winning on a regional stage. Proof that passion = real results 💯

🏦 New pathways for NYP learners in banking and finance

On 19 May, joined fellow IHLs and industry partners at the IBF Financial Industry Fiesta, where an MOU was signed to establish new progression opportunities for polytechnic students and graduates towards a recognised degree in Banking, Finance, and Applied AI.

What this means for our learners:
✨ More flexible routes to pursue a recognised degree while working
✨ Recognition of prior learning to support faster progression
✨ Closer alignment with industry needs and real-world skills

This is part of our continued effort to support our graduates in building meaningful, future-ready careers in the financial sector.

We loved seeing your ideas come to life through design and sustainability!✨ From building windmill prototypes to crafting clocks with moss and coffee beans, designing your own sustainability board games, and researching real-world sustainability challenges to share your findings, your creativity and innovation truly stood out.

Meet Sherine Yeoh, our Distinguished Award Winner and recipient of the Tay Eng Soon Award for ITE Upgrader ✨

Sherine joined our School of Design & Media's Diploma in Animation, Games & Visual Effects through EAE after completing ITE’s Games Art and Design course. Her passion for game creation motivated her to keep levelling up in the creative industry, from ITE to NYP, and now NTU 🎮

At NYP, she embraced every opportunity to grow, including an overseas internship in Kajaani, Finland 🇫🇮, where she collaborated with international students to create a couch co-op game now available on Steam.

Looking back, Sherine is glad she took the leap through EAE 💥
Her advice to future applicants, “Just apply! It doesn’t hurt to try. Show your passion and go for the course you want.”
