Hydroponic fodder.
We tested hydroponic fodder for feeding goats and sheep. This fodder is characterized by its rapid growth, short production cycle, and high nutritional value, making it a promising solution for improving livestock productivity and feed sustainability.

Commemoration of World Food Safety Day.
Yesterday 7 June, 2026, the Somali Bureau of standards commemorated World Food Safety Day. The event brought together stakeholders from education sector, bussiness community, livestock producers, farmers, researchers, university students, public health professionals, Food safety experts and representatives from the National Commission for Higher Education. The participants engaged in extensive discussions on strategies to ensure the availability of safe and nutritious food for all. Emphasis was placed on the importance of strengthening food safety systems, enhancing public awareness, improving food inspection, and promoting collaboration among government institutions, academia, the private sector , and communities. The event highlighted that a multi_ sectoral approach is essential for protecting public and achieving sustainable food safety.

Today 31/5/2026, a team from the Somali Bureau of standards visited the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and animal Husbandry. The team delivered a lecture to batch 8 Veterinary Medicine students on food safety chain and it's importance in protecting public health. They also invited the students to participate in the celebration of World Food Safety Day on 7 June 2026.We thank the team for their valuable contribution to food safety awareness.

Effects of livestock nutrition on livestock production and health.
Nutrition is a fundamental determinant of livestock production, as it directly influence growth performance , reproductive efficiency, health status and product quality.
Good nutrition = high production, good health, and better profit.
Poor nutrition= low production, disease and economic loss.
