Beyond the classroom, the Site Visit Program at the MRT Orange Line Project (Bang Khun Non Station – OR02) was organized as an integral component of the course CE71.9019 – Selected Topic: Challenges in Applying Engineering Principles in Practice. The course was instructed by Dr. Hsiao-Chou Chao from Moh and Associates, Inc. (MAA), and the visit was accompanied by Prof. Dennes T. Bergado, with the invaluable support of MAA.

This technical visit was attended by GTE students and staff, providing an exceptional opportunity to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world engineering applications. Participants gained valuable insights into the planning, design, and construction processes of underground mass transit infrastructure. The program included an overview of the current progress of the MRT Orange Line Project, along with detailed explanations of underground station construction techniques, construction management practices, safety inspection procedures, and comprehensive site safety management systems.

Furthermore, the on-site walkthrough and technical discussions with experienced engineers and project specialists enabled participants to better understand the practical challenges encountered in large-scale infrastructure projects. This experience strongly reinforced the core objectives of the course by highlighting the complexities of applying engineering principles in real-world practice.
