🚀 CU Aero Alumni LINE OA is now open.

We’re building a verified aerospace alumni network for Chula Aerospace Engineering to help alumni reconnect with the program, students, faculty, and each other.

The network is designed to support:
• Alumni connections
• Industry and research collaboration
• Internship and job opportunities
• Guest talks and mentoring
• Program updates and events

Your profile helps us build a stronger aerospace community across generations of CU Aero graduates.

Private contact information will not be publicly displayed, and optional fields can always be updated later.

Join the CU Aero Alumni LINE OA and complete your alumni profile here:

Once aerospace engineers graduate, they scatter across airlines, startups, defense, research labs, and random corporate battlefields. Then everyone loses contact for ten years and acts surprised. We’re trying to fix that.

Bangkok, Thailand — On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, senior-year students from the Aerospace Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, visited the Bangkok Airways Operation Complex near Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The visit introduced students to airline operations from the perspective of pilots, dispatchers, flight operations staff, and training teams, showing how each flight depends on careful planning, communication, and coordination long before passengers board the aircraft.

The session began with an overview of a pilot’s daily workflow, from pre-flight preparation, weather and route analysis, fuel planning, crew briefing, load and balance calculations, aircraft inspection, pushback, departure, cruise, approach, and landing. Students then visited key operational areas including the crew briefing room, flight dispatch office, Operations Control Center, and Airbus full-motion flight simulator facility, where they learned how pilots train for both routine and emergency scenarios through recurrent simulator practice.

The visit helped students connect classroom knowledge with real airline operations. Many reflected that they had previously understood aviation mainly from a passenger’s perspective, but the experience revealed the complex network of people and systems behind every flight. As one student wrote, “It was interesting to see how data-driven the process is, yet still requires human judgment.” Another reflected that “seeing real-time tracking of aircraft made me realize the scale and complexity of airline operations.” The simulator session was also a highlight, giving students “a deep appreciation for the skill and training required” in commercial aviation.

Most importantly, the visit reinforced that safe flight operations are never the work of one person alone. As one student summarized, flying is “not only about the pilot, but also about teamwork, planning, and continuous training to ensure safety and efficiency.”

Special thanks to Bangkok Airways for warmly welcoming our students and providing a valuable learning experience beyond the classroom.

Bangkok, Thailand — On 7 April 2026, 35 students from the Aerospace Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, visited the National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT) in Pathumthani. The group was warmly welcomed by Mr. Wirun Laopornpichayanuwat, Head of the Mechanical Metrology Department, and received an overview of NIMT’s role as Thailand’s national authority for measurement standards — responsible for establishing and maintaining primary standards across mechanical, electrical, dimensional, and time and frequency metrology. Special thanks to Dr. Jeerasak Pitakarnnop for his warm welcome during this visit as well.

Following the welcome session, students were divided into two groups for guided tours of six specialized laboratories: the Fluid Flow and Liquid Volume, Pressure and Vacuum, Wind Tunnel, Force, Hardness, and Time and Frequency laboratories. The visit provided students with firsthand exposure to world-class metrology facilities and reinforced the critical role of precise measurement in aerospace engineering and national quality infrastructure.

Bangkok, Thailand — Students from the Aerospace Engineering Program at Chulalongkorn University visited Thaicom Public Company Limited on 31 March 2026, exploring Thailand’s premier satellite operator and gaining a deeper understanding of the country’s space communications industry.

Established in 1991 and named by H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great as a symbol of the linkage between Thailand and modern communications technology, Thaicom has grown into a leading Asian satellite operator with a business built on excellence in service quality and innovation. Thaicom The company operates a fleet of four satellites covering Asia, Oceania, and Africa, and is a subsidiary of Intouch Holdings PCL, Thailand’s largest telecommunications holding company. Wikipedia

During the visit, students were introduced to Thaicom’s satellite operations and ground infrastructure. Thaicom’s fleet of geostationary satellites delivers reliable and secure connectivity for premium data, telecommunications, and video services, enabling broadcasters to expand into new digital markets, telecom operators to provide rural areas with broadband services, and government administrations to extend their communication reach nationwide. Thaicom

Among the company’s notable achievements, Thaicom launched the world’s first high throughput satellite (HTS), IPSTAR, on 11 August 2005, providing broadband connectivity to underserved areas across the Asia-Pacific region. Global Security The company continues to push boundaries, with plans for next-generation software-defined satellites in development.

The visit provided students with an exceptional look into the satellite communications sector, highlighting career pathways in space technology and reinforcing Chulalongkorn University’s commitment to connecting its students with Thailand’s most innovative industries.

- December 5, 2025 -

Fourth-year Aerospace Engineering students at Chulalongkorn University reached a key milestone with our Capstone Conceptual Design Presentations. Each team presented their mission-driven aerospace system concept—requirements, baseline configuration, and early sizing/performance—to the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) and faculty panel.

The session felt professional and supportive, with tough Q&A that challenged assumptions and pushed teams to think about feasibility, safety, regulations, cost, and operations. For many students, it was their first experience defending a complex engineering concept to an external audience—an important step toward real aerospace practice.

The feedback now guides the next phase as teams refine assumptions and move into deeper design and analysis.

The next round will be the final design presentation (April 2025) which will be opened to public.
