วันอาทิตย์ที่ 21 มิถุนายน เป็นวันที่ออสเตรเลียมีกลางวันสั้นที่สุดและมีกลางคืนยาวที่สุดของปี เนื่องจากซีกโลกใต้เอียงหนีดวงอาทิตย์มากที่สุด ทำให้พระอาทิตย์ขึ้นช้า ตกเร็ว และได้รับแสงแดดน้อยกว่าช่วงอื่นของปี

☀️ เมืองที่อยู่ทางใต้มากจะมีกลางวันสั้นกว่า โดย Hobart มีแสงแดดเพียง 9 ชั่วโมง ส่วน Darwin ยังมีแสงแดดกว่า 11 ชั่วโมง

📌 หลายคนเข้าใจว่าวันเหมายันคือวันที่หนาวที่สุดของปี แต่จริง ๆ แล้วอุณหภูมิต่ำสุดมักเกิดในเดือนกรกฎาคมหรือสิงหาคม เพราะพื้นดินและมหาสมุทรยังคงคายความร้อนต่อเนื่องหลังจากนี้

📷 อีกหนึ่งความพิเศษคือ วันนี้เงาของเราจะทอดยาวที่สุดในรอบปี เพราะดวงอาทิตย์อยู่ต่ำบนท้องฟ้าแม้ในช่วงเที่ยงวัน เหมาะกับการถ่ายภาพแนว Silhouette และภาพเงาสวย ๆ

🌿 ชาวอะบอริจินดั้งเดิมรู้จักและสังเกตการเปลี่ยนแปลงของฤดูกาลผ่านธรรมชาติมานานหลายหมื่นปี โดยใช้การออกดอกของพืช การอพยพของนก และพฤติกรรมสัตว์ต่าง ๆ เป็นตัวบอกฤดูกาล มากกว่าการแบ่งปีเป็น 4 ฤดูแบบตะวันตก

🌅 ข่าวดีคือ หลังวันที่ 21 มิถุนายน เวลากลางวันจะเริ่มยาวขึ้นทันที แม้จะเพิ่มขึ้นเพียงไม่กี่วินาทีต่อวัน ก่อนค่อย ๆ เพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ จนถึงวันครีษมายัน (Summer Solstice) ในเดือนธันวาคม

🏊‍♂️ และในขณะที่หลายคนกำลังเปิดฮีตเตอร์สู้ความหนาว ชาวแทสเมเนียบางส่วนกลับฉลองวันเหมายันด้วยการวิ่งลงทะเลแบบไม่สวมเสื้อผ้าในกิจกรรม N**e Solstice Swim ซึ่งเป็นไฮไลต์ประจำฤดูหนาวของออสเตรเลีย

LSBF Singapore - English Courses: Short and Long Term!

1. Short-Term English Language Course (Weekly English)
Duration: 1–4 weeks
Start Dates: attached calendar
Entry Requirements:
• Minimum age: 14 years old
• Internal English placement test
Available Levels:
Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, Advanced
Course Schedule:
5 hours per day at the school (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, including a lunch break from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM): 3 hours of face-to-face group classes and 2 hours of online group classes via the Pearson platform. Students are required to bring a laptop or iPad.
Visa Requirement: No student visa required for short term study.

2. Long-Term English Language Course (Preparatory Course in English)
Duration: 2–10 months
Start Dates in 2026: 2nd June, 1st July, 3rd August, 1st September, 1st October, 2nd November and 1st December

• Minimum age: 14 years old
• Internal English placement test
• Required documents for student visa application
Available Levels:
Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, Advanced
Course Schedule:
5 hours per day at the school (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, including a lunch break from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM): 3 hours of face-to-face group classes and 2 hours of online group classes via the Pearson platform. Students are required to bring a laptop or iPad.
Student Visa:
A student visa is required for all nationalities. The school will assist with the visa application process and submit documents to Immigration.
