π Applicants are reminded that all required documents must be submitted and the application process completed prior to the start of the course.

The Caribbean Fisheries Training and Development Institute (CFTDI) wishes to remind all seafaring personnel that our next Proficiency in Survival Craft Revalidation course is scheduled for Thursday 11th June, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This essential course is designed to provide participants with updated knowledge and practical training in survival craft operations, safe operational procedures, survival techniques, and search and rescue procedures. It is a mandatory requirement for officers and seafarers responsible for the launching and handling of survival craft.
β³ There are only a few days remaining to apply! Don't miss this opportunity to maintain your certification and remain compliant with industry requirements.
π° Course Fee: $1,500.00

The Principal, and Staff of the Caribbean Fisheries Training and Development Institute (CFTDI) extend heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, former colleagues, and loved ones of Captain Kirton Huggins on his passing.
Captain Huggins rendered distinguished service to the maritime sector of Trinidad and Tobago and made an invaluable contribution to the development and growth of the Caribbean Fisheries Training and Development Institute. As the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard Representative on the Institute's Management Committee for many years, he brought a wealth of knowledge, professionalism, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of maritime education and training.
In later years, Captain Huggins also served as Training Officer, where his dedication to excellence, mentorship, and capacity building helped shape the lives and careers of countless students and seafarers. His passion for developing human resources within the maritime and fisheries sectors left a lasting impact on our institution and the wider maritime community.
Captain Huggins was a respected leader, a consummate professional, and a valued member of the CFTDI family. His contributions have helped strengthen the foundation upon which our Institute continues to grow and serve the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of service, commitment, and excellence will continue to inspire future generations.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find comfort and strength during this difficult time.
