NGURDOTO AND MAASAI BUSH LAND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Situated just 30kms from South of Arusha and joining Arusha national park, Ngurdoto is a diverse forested region conspicuous for its variety abundance of birds, wildlife and butterflies.
Its known to have the widest and largest range of birds in the Arusha region.
The area is an important buffer to the Arusha and Mt. Meru national parks which are are signicant reserves of both flora and fauna.
Pleople of the gentle Meru tribes have settled here establishing homes and small farms through out the forest.

Population and social development are putting increasing pressure on the natural environment so that Ngurdoto and Maasai bush land development program has been established.

Its mission is to preserve the natural habitat and traditional culture while facilitating education and social develoment programs.

John Henry Ngowi has been appointed the Coordinator of the program and a percentage of all his activities is given back to the local community.

The Meru people of the Ngurdoto community welcome visitors into their beautiful villages and forests to observe traditional and culture within the area.
