Lake natron is an alkaline lake or salty lake located in northen Tanzania near the Oldonyo Lengai active volcanic mountain, at the lowest point of the Great Rift Valley in East Africa at an altitude of 600m above the sea level.
Lake Natron is known for being a breeding area or ground of Lesser Flamingo where by more than 2.5 million of Lesser flamingo breeds there, this are some reasons why lesser flamingo prefers to breed in Lake Natron..

●Safe from predators.
●Abundant food source; lake natron is rich in cynobacteria which is the primary food source of lesser flamingo.
●Also the lake's unique chemistry supports the growth of these microorganisms.
