SCOUT TOUR IN DUBAI, 2024.

The tour was sponsored by A Scout Local Association situated in Ubungo Municipal in collaboration with the permit from the schools from which the scouts are studying. Parents were involved through contribution to support their children in covering some of the expenses like tickets and accommodation.

Secondary School had an opportunity to participate in this tour where by eight students were escorted by their Scout Master, Mr. Jackson
Projestus.

The tour took ten days, commencing from 9th to 19th December, 2024.

We visited the following areas in Dubai :
• Dubai mall
• Burj Khalifa ( the tallest tower in the World)
• Palm Jumairah ( the Island in Dubai that was built in a palm shape especialy
when it is viewed via a Helicopter).
• Dubai Aquarium which is situated under the sea. It contains a lot of fish species.
• Dubai frame
• Old mosque in Dubai ( old city/ village)

The tour was amaizing..the places visited were worth it...!
We thank every one who participated in making sure this trip happened..special thanks to the administration and the parents without forgeting our scout master who escotted us..

Welcome all.

A TRIP TO SOUTH AFRICA 2024.

The 2024 Johannesburg Summer Holiday Open Debate Championship (JOZI SHO) competition was inaugurated on 10th December, inviting debaters and Public Speakers across the world to debate on topical issues, getting exposure, networking and exchanging ideas.

Three Barbro girls engaged in Public Speaking and others were observers at Witwatersrand University in Bloemfontein.

Countries which participated were Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Five schools from Tanzania participated as listed below:

- Barbro Johansson
- Alpha Secondary School
- Independent school
- Savannah plains from Shinyanga
- St. Joseph Cathedral

After four days of stiff and hot competition, the awarding ceremony was conducted at City of Johannesburg council Chamber on Friday, 14th December 2024.
Barbro school was awarded a trophy based on the best performing Tanzanian Schools ranking the 3rd position.
Further more, Our girls featured by being awarded certificates of participation and medals as narrated below;

1. TOP TEN BEST PUBLIC SPEAKERS OVERALL
1Oth position: Mariam Juma

2. TOP TEN TANZANIA PUBLIC SPEAKERS
8th position: Valangel Bernice
7th position: Mariam Samwel
6th position: Dorothy Allen

Apart from Academic competition, our girls had a tour around Johannesburg visiting different places like Soweto, constitution hill and Nelson Mandel.

We thank the school administration and the ever supporting parents. Special thanks to Madam Bupe for accompanying us and guiding us through out the competition and entire trip.

Form six students attended career guidance seminar held at Serena hotel. The seminar intended to expose students to various courses and career opportunities available in Tanzania and other parts of the world.
Slide 4:
Tax club competition for secondary schoools. We were able to come up 5th out of 61 schools. This is great achievement!

We thank the administration and staff for continuous support that they give us..for the better future!!

The 3rd Tanzania National World School Debate Championship 2024 was held at Alpha Girls Secondary School,Kunduchi, Dar es salaam from 09th to 11th August this year.

The competition invited debaters and public speakers from African countries and world to interrogate issues of global importance.

It was organised by TCRO ( TANZANIA COMPETITIVE RHETORIC ORGANIZATION) which operates from Sinza C Palestina Dar es salaam.

The tournament was attended by African countries such as Botswana,Kenya, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
Note:School from Tanzania were Al- Muntazir, Ag khan,Al- Nur School,Alpha girls, Alpha high ,Barbro, Crown ,Feza boys,Shaaban Robert,St. Joseph, Shamsiye and Turkish Maarif.

Barbro school had a delegation of two teachers ( Ms. Roseetha Mkugusi and Mr. Jackson Projestus) with a total of 56 students where by:

03 girls participated as debaters,15 girls participated in public speaking and 38 girls were observers.

We are happy to inform you, our girls' achievements as stipulated below;

Sincere gratitude goes to the Head of School and Barbro team for allowing these girls to participate in a such amazing event.This is what it means by giving the girls' light .
