Without justice, lasting peace cannot be achieved. As the dialogue came to an end, participants agreed that the African Union must provide leadership, strengthen regional coordination, address security dilemmas, and ensure practical implementation of initiatives in the region.

What anchors Africa’s peace efforts? Dr. Solomon Winyi, the paper presenter, highlighted key pillars of the AU peace architecture including early warning and prevention, the Panel of the Wise, and regional standby forces-key to coordination, response, and peace in the Region.

Bringing together thought leaders, policymakers, and scholars, the conversation challenged existing approaches and explored bold, homegrown solutions for lasting regional security and cooperation

Amid ongoing efforts to foster stability in the Great Lakes Region, IRIC (UMI) held a Public Policy Dialogue to examine the pacification of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a critical appraisal of the African Union’s potential in advancing sustainable peace.
