What Makes IB Different? 🌍
At CIS, students learn through the International Baccalaureate framework, which encourages inquiry, critical thinking, and global understanding. It is a rigorous, student-centered approach that helps learners become thoughtful communicators, curious thinkers, and engaged citizens. 📚
¿Qué hace diferente al IB? 🌍

🍎 Meet Mr. Troy Barber, our dedicated 9th-grade teacher! Inspired by his wife’s 20-year teaching career and the experiences of his own children, he realized that there’s no better place to make a meaningful difference than in a school community. ❤
📚 What does he love most about teaching at Corrales? The students, of course! As Mr. Barber says, they keep him young and make every day rewarding.
🌎 Fun fact: Before becoming a teacher, Mr. Barber worked as a geologist. While he may not be fascinated by rocks themselves, he loves the incredible stories they tell about the Earth and its history.
💡 His biggest hope for students is that they learn an important lesson that extends far beyond the classroom: even the hardest problems can be broken down into manageable pieces.

🏫 Meet Scott Copley, our dedicated 9th Grade teacher at Corrales International School! Coming from four generations of educators, teaching has always been a natural fit. His passion for problem-solving and hands-on learning led him to help launch Corrales' Project Lead The Way program.
Mr. Copley loves being part of the CIS community and values the challenges and opportunities the IB program provides. He believes the commitment of our students, families, and staff makes CIS a true gem among New Mexico schools.
Fun fact: Mr. Copley grew up in the same house where his grandfather was born!
🌟 His message to students is simple: don't be afraid to make mistakes. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn, grow, and become stronger.

✨ Teacher Feature: Meet Ms. Alexa Banks! ✨
Say hello to Ms. Alexa Banks, one of our incredible 12th Grade teachers! 🎓📚
Ms. Banks was first inspired to teach after teaching abroad and discovering how much she loved travel, creativity, and working with young people of all different learning styles. 🌍💡
At Corrales, she loves being part of a culture that gives students a united, supportive foundation while encouraging them to explore independently and ask big questions. 💛🌱
A fun fact her students may be surprised to learn? She collects cool rocks and crystals! 🪨🔮✨
By the end of the year, Ms. Banks hopes every student remembers that experiences are our best teachers — and that authentically engaging with the world, even in small or silly ways, can help us better understand who we are and what we want. 🌟
