Clinicians Matter More Than Ever!

A recent CDC report from the 2025 West Texas measles outbreak found that nearly 1 in 5 patients required hospitalization. Among those hospitalized, 91% were children, most had no significant underlying medical conditions, and all were unvaccinated or had unknown vaccination status.

At the same time, a recent Harvard poll found that clinicians remain the most trusted source of health information for the public.

Together, these findings serve as an important reminder that vaccine-preventable diseases can still cause serious illness and that healthcare professionals play a critical role in helping patients understand risks, evaluate evidence, and make informed decisions based on their individual health needs.

As nurse practitioners, we have an important opportunity to provide trusted, evidence-based information and support patients in making informed healthcare decisions.
