Sharing more Week 1 Summer Practicum highlights from our Santa Rosa, Silver City, and Taos teams.

The Summer Practicum is a month-long experience that takes place each summer following students’ second year in the Combined BA/MD Degree Program. Through community immersion and exposure to healthcare across New Mexico, students gain a deeper understanding of the many facets of healthcare and communities they may one day serve.

Week 1 of Summer Practicum continues with our Las Cruces, Las Vegas, and Roswell teams.

Every community has something unique to teach, and students are already learning through new experiences, meaningful connections, and a closer look at healthcare in different parts of New Mexico.

Each summer following their second year, Combined BA/MD students participate in the Summer Practicum, a month-long experience designed to immerse them in communities across New Mexico while exploring the many facets of healthcare.

During Week 1, students completed orientation activities, became acquainted with their host communities, shadow physicians, participate in community engagement and explored the unique experiences their practicum sites have to offer.

This video features the Gallup, Farmington, and Hobbs teams as they begin their Summer Practicum experience and gain a deeper understanding of the communities they are preparing to serve as future physicians in New Mexico.
