Rodney Young, M.D., regional chair of family and community medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine and Texas Medical Association Board of Trustees member, encourages physicians to find meaningful ways to involve their families in their work. For Dr. Young, a traveling dinosaur named Ellie helped give his family a way to share in the journey and better understand the purpose behind his medical career.

in Amarillo continues its partnership with Our Blood Institute at Coffee Memorial Blood Center as part of its commitment to community service and improving health across the Panhandle. Through campus blood drives, TTUHSC helps collect lifesaving blood products that support patients across the region while strengthening its dedication to the communities it serves.

in Amarillo welcomed families, students, faculty, staff and community partners over the weekend for a free public health fair focused on improving access to health education and resources across the Panhandle. Hosted at the Northwest Texas Healthcare System J.O. Wyatt Clinic, attendees received glucose checks, blood pressure screenings, medication safety education, basic health assessments, sports physicals and healthcare packages.

The collaborative effort brought together the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, TTUHSC-Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Health Professions, Texas Nursing Student Association and Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine to connect community members with health services, education and resources. The event highlighted a shared commitment to improving healthcare in the community and providing access to care across the Panhandle.
