Today we're taking a trip back to 2019 to one of AJT's most memorable performances: The New Old Time Chautauqua Vaudeville Circus!

Combining circus arts, music, comedy and classic vaudeville entertainment, this talented troupe brought energy, laughter and amazement to audiences across Alaska. With colorful characters, incredible performers and a spirit of community that perfectly matched AJT's mission, it was a show that left lasting memories for children and families alike.

🎉🎭 Happy 45th Birthday, Alaska Junior Theater! 🎭🎉

Today, we celebrate 45 incredible years of bringing the magic of live theater to Alaska's children and families.

Since 1981, Alaska Junior Theater has welcomed world-class professional performances from around the globe to inspire imagination, spark curiosity and create lifelong memories for generations of Alaskans. Through laughter, storytelling, music and wonder, we've introduced countless young people to the transformative power of the performing arts.

As we celebrate this milestone, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our founder, Lorrie Horning. Forty-five years ago, Lorrie had a vision to bring high-quality live theater experiences to Alaska's young people. Thanks to her passion, dedication and belief in the power of the arts, generations of children and families have had the opportunity to experience performances that educate, inspire and ignite imaginations.

None of this would have been possible without the support of our audiences, teachers, volunteers, sponsors, donors, board members, community partners and champions like Lorrie who helped build the foundation of Alaska Junior Theater. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us bring extraordinary theater experiences to children throughout Alaska for nearly half a century.

As we look ahead to our next chapter, we remain committed to creating the future of theatergoers and ensuring that Alaska's children continue to experience the wonder of live performance for generations to come.

For many young people, an AJT performance is their first experience with live theater, and for some, it is an experience that changes their lives forever and inspires a lifelong love for the arts.

AJT's Annual Summer Garage Sale will be on Saturday and Sunday, June 27th & 28th, and we are currently accepting donations of gently used items through June 23rd.

🇺🇸🎭 What a wonderful day at the Military Appreciation Day Picnic!

Lainie and I had an amazing time meeting families, sharing information about our upcoming 2026–2027 Season, "Once Upon a Twist" and celebrating alongside our community. We loved connecting with so many new faces and seeing the excitement for another season of world-class theater for Alaska's children and families.

A heartfelt thank you to the organizers, volunteers and everyone who stopped by our booth. Most importantly, thank you to the service members, veterans and military families whose dedication and sacrifice make events like this possible.

We are grateful to have been part of such a fun and meaningful day and look forward to seeing many of you at the theater soon!
