UAA Alumni Assembly 2026 was a success! 🥳

We approved the new bylaws for our board of directors, had a Q&A with university leadership and heard from campus partners about community engagement, campus projects and recruitment efforts. We also ratified the new board slate, bidding farewell to board member Pearl-Grace Pantaleone, B.A. '14, and welcoming new board members Bernadette Brown, A.A.S. '22, O.E.C., B.A. '25, Zach Dunlap, B.B.A. '21, Jen Motyka, G.C.R.T. '25 and Rebecca Sparks, A.A. '19, B.S. '21.

Thanks to all who attended! We're already looking forward to next year!

It's Day, and the UAA campus is chock full of subjects to choose from. Share your favorite campus picture!

On the first of our Summer Strolls last week, we admired everything from the colorful birds and signs of lumbering moose to the peaceful scenery and vibrant plants that we see on campus.

Our alumni had such a blast at Brewerks last week.

With the help of owner and operator Chad Ringler, B.S. '01, B.S. '14, we pulled off an awesome alumni social! We traded stories and met prospective board members while snacking on delicious tacos from Salmon HookUp Truck. Chad even gave us a tour of the brewery, explaining how he makes his brews and the hard work that goes into it. Keep an eye out for upcoming alumni events!

Lt. Cmdr. Samuel Krakower is no stranger to ice. In fact, today's is the operations officer on the Coast Guard's newest icebreaker, the USCGC Storis.

Krakower was the graduate student hooding ceremony speaker for the Class of 2026, having just earned his Interdisciplinary Studies M.S. from the UAA Graduate School. His degree, concentrating in Arctic Security, was uniquely tailored to his career. Krakower's long-term goal is to continue contributing to operations, research and policy that foster a greater awareness of the Arctic's role in national and global security. Have you marked your calendar for our first Summer Stroll next Friday, June 12th?

We'll leave from Rasmuson Hall at 12 p.m. and follow the trails along campus on a wildlife walk, keeping an eye out for the animals that make their home here. Our director, an avid birder, will lead the charge on identifying the feathered friends we see. But don't worry, no binoculars or birding experience needed. Tour is expected to last about an hour and parking is free on Fridays. Learn more and RSVP here: heyor.ca/LFOyLe

During the meeting, board members discussed bylaw changes, board elections and most importantly, the upcoming Alumni Assembly on June 9th! Assembly serves as a way for Seawolves to network, hear from university representatives, ratify the board slate, honor outgoing members and participate in a Q&A with university leadership. Our this week is a double graduate of UAA: Chad Ringler!

Ringler started with a 2001 B.A. in Biological Sciences, then came back in 2014 for his B.S. in Civil Engineering. Today, Chad owns and operates Brewerks, a craft brewery in midtown Anchorage. Brewerks will host our alumni social next Thursday, June 4th, from 5-7 p.m., and we're so excited to meet with graduates and friends at an alumni-owned business!
