For students taking their first SAT exam on August or September test dates, now is a good time to start doing practice tests.
If you haven't already done so, download the College Board Bluebook App so you can practice SAT tests under test conditions. -

You can then practice the skills where you need to improve, for both reading/writing and math on the Khan Academy DSAT practice site.
Both of these resources are completely free. - https://www.khanacademy.org/digital-sat

S.V. recently emailed me and shared, "I had been stuck in a rut with the English section for quite some time, but your tutoring helped me approach it with a new perspective and ultimately improve my score.
I committed to [an Ivy] recently and couldn't have gotten here without all of your support and encouragement. "
As you might imagine, these comments made my heart sing!

Attention Families of Rising Juniors!
As your student finishes sophomore year and looks ahead to junior year, now is a great time to start thinking about the SAT and ACT.
One of the smartest steps students can take is to sit for an SAT or ACT early—not necessarily to achieve a perfect score, but to establish a baseline. Knowing where they stand helps families make informed decisions about preparation, testing timelines, and college admissions goals.
Why start now?
✅ Identify strengths and areas for improvement
✅ Reduce uncertainty about standardized testing
✅ Create a thoughtful testing plan instead of rushing
✅ Leave room for retesting if desired
✅ Take pressure off the summer before senior year, when students are often balancing college visits, application essays, activities, jobs, and other commitments
Students who begin the testing process earlier often have more flexibility and less stress as college application season approaches.
The goal isn't perfection—it's preparation.
Start the conversation now, develop a plan, and help your student enter junior year with confidence.
With EOC, EOG and final exams fast approaching, here are some tips to optimize your student's exam prep.
To make the most of your student's test prep practice time:
Find a Quiet Environment: Choose a study space that is free from distractions, such as noise and interruptions.
Schedule Regular Practice: Create a study schedule that includes consistent practice sessions to reinforce learning and retention.
Be Able to Focus: Limit distractions by turning off notifications on devices and choosing a time when you feel rested and ready to think
Use Appropriate Level Materials: Select study materials that match your current skill level to ensure they are challenging yet manageable.
