Some of the most important work we do never comes through a 911 call.

Today Brookhaven PD had the honor of joining the SAFE Center — a student support program through DeKalb County School District — for a community food distribution right here in our neighborhood. And what we saw when we pulled up was exactly why we love this community.

Families came out. Volunteers showed up. Tables were lined with food for people who needed it. And in the middle of all of it was a community that looks out for each other, rain and all.

To the SAFE Center, thank you for always opening your doors and welcoming us in. The work you do for students and families in DeKalb County goes far beyond the classroom and days like this prove it.

This is what it looks like when a community truly takes care of its own. We are grateful to be a part of it
