This spring, Slater's 1st grade students completed their project-based learning (PBL) project, "Entomology Explorers." Their driving question was: "How can we teach our community that bugs are our friends?" As part of this PBL, Slater partnered with an entomologist from UGA, Dr. Carruthers, who brought UGA's insect zoo to Slater to engage the students in some hands on learning.

It's never too early to start making plans for college! At Slater Elementary, students participated in an engaging Project-Based Learning (PBL) experience this spring centered on college and career awareness. Each student selected a college or university they were interested in attending and conducted research on the school’s programs, campus life, and traditions. Students then presented their findings through creative projects and classroom presentations, helping them build research, communication, and critical thinking skills while encouraging them to begin envisioning their future goals at an early age.
