joins Emory University in honoring , a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans and celebrating freedom, resilience, and progress.
Observed each year on June 19, Juneteenth marks the day when news of emancipation reached enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.
Emory University and Emory Law administrative offices will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of the holiday.
