Under the guidance of Dr. Jianmei Cui, students in the Department of Chemistry are developing sustainable lab practices to promote green chemistry!
These optimizing techniques are demonstrated in a new study published in the Journal of Chemical Education led by Dr. Cui, which introduces 12 Principles of Green Chemistry meant to reduce waste, minimize hazardous substances, and prevent health risks while supporting scientific innovation.

GSU Physics and Astronomy professor Stuart Jefferies and his team spoke with WABE News about their prototype for the ExoLife Finder (ELF) telescope, the SELF. This smaller-scale telescope will feature 15 mirrors, all precisely aligned by AI, to capture the sharpest images possible, which will help map distant exoplanets.

with computer science professor Dr. Michael Weeks, students shared their innovative final projects for the Maymester Game Design & AI Summer REU Workshop sponsored by FanDuel and hosted in the Creative Media Industries Institute! Throughout the course, they learned how to use AI techniques to find optimal actions, for pathfinding, and for simulating how people and creatures act—creating games that are both fun to play and super useful for research.
