We were trying to take a group picture during our backyard recess when someone spotted a squirrel in the tree! Before we knew it, everyone had their binoculars out, searching for our furry visitor. 🐿️ Moments like these remind us that the best learning happens naturally—through curiosity, exploration, and the excitement of discovering something together. 🌳🔍

Writing is More Than Holding a Pencil ✏️

Today our young learners worked together to create a giant ocean-themed writing mural! As they drew whales, turtles, starfish, cacti, rainbows, and more, they weren’t just making pictures—they were making meaning.

Throughout the activity, we practiced:
🖍️ Drawing with purpose
📝 Labeling pictures with words
🔤 Connecting spoken language to print
💬 Talking about our ideas with friends
🤝 Working together on a shared project

Writing begins long before children write perfect letters or sentences. It starts when they realize that marks, pictures, and words can communicate ideas. Every label they write and every story they tell builds confidence and strengthens the foundation for future reading and writing.

Little Explorers at Work! 🔍

Today our young scientists grabbed their binoculars and headed out to explore the world around them. As they searched the playground and classroom for interesting sights, they practiced observation, focus, communication, and curiosity.

Exploration activities encourage children to slow down, notice details, ask questions, and investigate their surroundings. Whether they were spotting birds, looking for insects, or simply discovering something new, they were building the foundation for scientific thinking and a lifelong love of learning.

Busy Bees in the Discovery Area! 🐝🌼

Our young learners explored a hands-on insect and garden sensory tray filled with bees, ants, caterpillars, worms, flowers, sand, and nature treasures. As they dug, sorted, built, and imagined, they practiced observation, problem-solving, fine motor skills, and cooperative play.

Sensory experiences like these encourage children to ask questions, make discoveries, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. Through play, they explored how insects help gardens grow and how living things interact in nature.

Congratulations to my 2026 PreK grads. One is moving out of state, one going off to public school and one staying with me for kindergarten. 🎓🍎❤️

Today’s learning focused on whole alphabet exploration, hands-on math, building, sorting, counting, patterning, and discovering through play.

From animal worlds and block structures to number work and open-ended problem solving, children were encouraged to think, create, investigate, and connect learning in meaningful ways throughout the day.

Balanced learning through movement, exploration, literacy, math, and imagination. 🌿

A calm classroom doesn’t happen by accident.
