βοΈπΎ Cougars on the Move! πΎβοΈ
School may be out for the summer, but our Cougars are still on the move!
What are our SLCS students, families, teachers and staff up to this summer?
Whether it's summer camp, family vacations, service projects, sports practice, and everything in between, we want to celebrate our SLCS community all summer long.
Rising 3rd grader, Elizabeth, has been making wonderful memories across Europe this summer, visiting her grandparents in Italy and doing more exploring! Her adventures have included attending Mass in Ljubljana, Slovenia, exploring a cave in Postojna, Slovenia, seeing the breathtaking mountain views in Vogel, Slovenia, and spending time with her grandparents in the Piazza Italia in Maniago, Italy.
What an incredible opportunity to experience new places and culture, and spend time with family.

π©·π Mahj & Margs Recap! ππ©·
A fun afternoon was had this past weekend as we gathered for the Green & White Night Ladies Buy-In at Casa Chapala.
Guests enjoyed a lively afternoon of mahjong, margaritas, yummy food, and plenty of laughter as we learned mahjong from expert Amber Sue Huff of Austin Mahjong Social.
Thank you to parent Emily Robertson for organizing this experience and to all those who joined us!

A heartfelt thank you to Montessori parent, George Tagg, and his company, Paul Davis Restoration of East and South Austin, TX, for the donation of their time, talents, materials, and labor to build our new sandbox!
Thanks to their hard work and generosity, our little ones have extra space to play, create, imagine, and explore, just next to the existing playground. We are so grateful for your commitment to our school and for investing in the lives of our students.

Creativity, community, and a touch of nostalgia filled the art room last week during Ms. Pilar's Paper Mache Sculpture class. π¨β¨
Students and parents came together for two weeks of hands-on creativity and artistic expression, creating their own sculptures while learning techniques from Ms. Pilar, who has inspired generations of SLCS students.
Thank you, Ms. Pilar, for sharing your gifts and talents with our school, and to the families who participated in her last SLCS summer camp (for now!).

Rising 3rd grader, Karter, had a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience this week as he attended a World Cup game this week! He watched Saudi Arabia take on Uruguay at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami and soaked in all the excitement, energy, and pageantry of the World Cup.

Honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary ππ€π
May, the month of Mary, gives our 3rd grade students time to celebrate and honor Our Lady through Marian presentations.
This 3rd grade tradition of learning and researching Our Ladyβs Wardrobe - the different colors, clothing, and cultural traditions used to depict Mary - helps students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the many ways Catholics honor our Blessed Mother around the world.
We are grateful for the thoughtful, faith-filled work our young learners shared with their families and school during the month of Mary.

We π our teachers and staff!
Teacher Appreciation Week was full of creativity and love, thanks to 3rd grade parent Leticia Carlin and all her sweet details. Teachers and staff were treated to a pie bar, lemonade and iced tea stand, biscuits and gravy, a BBQ lunch and Jesus on all our door frames.
We are so grateful to all our teachers, staff, and our wonderful parents for making each of these days feel so special.

Caps off to our Kindergarten graduates! π π
We celebrated a special milestone for our Montessori 5 and Kindergarten students the week before school ended with the completion of their first chapter at SLCS.
These students have grown academically, in faith, friendship, and confidence, and we are so excited to see whatβs in store for them as first graders!
Congratulations, Kindergarten Class of 2026!

Hear ye, hear ye!
We were honored to welcome City Council representative Mike Siegel, who represents District 7 and our school's 78757 zip code, to campus this past Friday to present a special proclamation recognizing the achievements of our SLCS Destination Imagination students.
This was especially meaningful as most proclamations are typically presented during City Council meetings - thanks to 4th grade parent and Golden Corgis 2.0 team manager, Robyn Diaz, for her efforts in bringing this special celebration directly to our school community!
We are so proud of all of our Destination Imagination students for their creativity, teamwork, and dedication. πππ
