The Franklin Music Academy has served fun and engaging music lessons to the South Austin community for years and is known to host entertaining recitals that family and friends can attend. We specialize in drum, bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, and vocals with an instrument and cover multiple genres of music. While most of our students are children ranging from age 6 to 18, we also teach music to adults.

Our instructor Alex Lew recently earned his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from The University of Texas at Austin. His background in performance and higher-level music study makes him an excellent resource for studen9ts seeking more advanced guitar instruction in various genres.

Certainly a budding young performer. She was the only pianist across 4 recitals last month that performed 3 pieces in one sitting. Here she plays Study in E Minor.
You cannot tell us that Miss Sara did not enjoy playing Frere Jaques. A very spirited performance at the least. Just see for yourself.
This video literally almost gave us severe PTSD from childhood. Well, maybe just slightly, but we would have never started Franklin Music Academy based on the thoughts of others.
What a way to end our Spring Recital season! 🎶 Our second round of pianists delivered fantastic performances all weekend long, including a touching birthday tribute that brought one proud dad to his feet in applause. Bravo to all of our performers!
Kaleb plays Prelude in C Minor. A true performer that consistently plays with lightning bolt pace and precision.
When Emily's dad walked in, he didn't know he'd get a live birthday performance. Emily and her music instructor, Nathan, planned it all. "Trouble" never sounded so sweet. Great job to the both of you!

While we were knee-deep in recitals last week, we quietly celebrated being featured in VoyageAustin. We were grateful for the opportunity to share a little of the story behind Franklin Music Academy, but decided to wait until our birthday on June 4th to share it with everyone.
What started as two people wanting more freedom, purpose, and autonomy over how music education should feel has grown into something much bigger than we ever imagined. Over the years, we’ve watched shy students become confident performers, families become lifelong friends, and music become a lasting part of so many students’ lives.
At Franklin Music Academy, our goal has never been to create professional musicians. We believe in the power of music to preserve culture, pass on tradition, and develop amateur artists who feel inspired to play music for a lifetime.
As we celebrate another year, we're especially grateful for every family, student, instructor, and supporter who has been part of this journey. Thank you for allowing us to do work that feels meaningful every single day. ❤️
