A Place to Belong, an Education Beyond. Small classes and an inclusive setting for PreK-8th grades. It is quite simply an education beyond.
Kirby Hall is a rare and magical place as distinct as Austin itself. Just minutes from the University of Texas, you'll find the highest level of academics offered in a loving, nurturing environment. Class sizes averaging 12 students allow for an intimate environment. In this close-knit, caring community, we embrace the concept of joyful rigor. Intellectual curiosity is fostered and allowed to blos

Honk honk! ๐ค๐ค It's here! Through many generous donations from our Spring Fling event, and the support of our amazing families, PTO, and Board of Directors, the KHS school bus ๐has been purchased and parked on campus! (*Painting our name in Kirby Hall red โค will be imminent!) We can't wait to motor around town with our students for field trips, service projects, sports and more! Thank you to our wonderful Kirby community for helping us to bring this bus home! ๐

As school ended last week, we celebrated ๐ each grade's successes and the milestone of them moving up to the next. We were especially proud to graduate ๐ our class of fifth graders into middle school. They are bright, brainy, creative, compassionate, and a tight-knit group of kiddos who care deeply about each other, their teachers, and fellow students. ๐ซถ Our seventh graders look forward to them joining the KHS Middle School cohort in the fall.
Through hands-on learning and tech-intentional programming, at Kirby Hall focuses on themes surrounding:
โ
Identity & Responsibility
โ
Diversity & Resilience
โ
Leadership & Service

We had an excellent time last week at the KHS Sports Banquet ๐ celebrating our student athletes (๐aka๐งPenguins). Here are some highlights from our three seasons of competition:
โญ 88% of all students eligible in grades 2nd through 6th participated on a team this year which was AWESOME โผ๏ธ
โญ All of our teams made it to at least the first round of playoffs at the end of each season with our girls soccer โฝ๏ธ team advancing the farthest and earning the Runners Up trophy for the Austin Private School Association League
โญ KHS supported a *record* 11 teams across six different sports this year (Flag Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball, Soccer, and Track & Field)
โญ Coaches Dixon & Dailey handed out our inaugural KHS Captains Awards to several middle school students who exemplified what it means to work hard and be a team player while serving as outstanding role models for the younger students
It was a ๐
GREAT ๐
year for Penguin sports, and we couldn't do it without our dedicated coaches, families, and faculty always cheering us on...thank you, and ๐ง

to our epic in the park two weeks ago. It is a favorite event each year as our students cheer each other on through multiple wet and wild competitions ๐
, teachers brave the dunk tank โพ , and vast amounts of watermelons ๐ are consumed! Thank you to our parent volunteers and brave faculty who weren't afraid to get a little soggy ๐ฆ for a fantastical, fun-filled day! ๐

Our Kirby Hall Penguins ๐ง are PSIA (Private Schools Interscholastic Association) PROUD, earning 3rd place ๐ overall in the recent statewide competition. We had nearly 30 students compete in a variety of academic and creative/artistic categories from 1st through 6th grades. CONGRATULATIONS to all of our students who participated, and a huge thanks goes to Mr. Dailey, our teachers, and parents for all their time and efforts and helping us to train our brains! ๐ง
WAY TO GO! ๐๐๐
Check it out โถ๏ธ ... Mr. Schumann's sixth grade Rocketry elective has graduated from stomp rockets on our playground to bigger models they built and launched in the city park behind us. This most recent fleet soared approximately 200 feet in the air โผ๏ธ We sure are ๐ in at Kirby Hall!

Thank you to all of our families who joined us for the lower grades' Parent Picnic in the park yesterday. We loved reminiscing about all that we have learned together in PreK, Kindergarten, and First Grades this year and enjoyed hearing about all of the exciting plans our friends have for summer! ๐งบ ๐ณ ๐
A few weeks ago, our 2nd graders staged their own program inspired by the show, Shark Tank. They:
๐ฌ Researched a challenge they felt needed a solution
๐ฌ Developed a product/pitch around it
๐ฌ Presented their idea to our audience of 'potential investors' and even shared about what charities/organizations they would share their future profits with
Some products that students dreamt up included kid organizer bins for bedrooms, a refrigerated rain collection device, sun and moon plushies for kids to learn about day and night, and baby pillows to support newborn heads while they sleep.
Students had so much fun working on this project, and we loved watching their critical thinking skills and creativity shine. ๐คฉ
