A Christ-centered PK-8th grade school that provides a feast of education to a diverse community.

OUR FOUNDING BELIEFS
City School opened its door in 2002 to be a place where children from throughout Austin could learn about God and His truth (all truth) side by side. Here children of painters and attorneys, contractors and professors learn to read and do math, write and draw. They play, pray, and sometimes quarrel – after which they learn to resolve conflict in a way that honors God and one a

This is one of those prayers we hope our students and families carry with them long after childhood.

A reminder that we do not have to hold the weight of the world on our own shoulders. That we are small, loved, known, and safely held by a God who is infinitely stronger than we are.

As summer has begun, we pray this prayer over our students:

That you would sleep peacefully, play joyfully, wonder deeply, and continue growing in the hands of the One who holds all things together.

School is out, but these photos are still living rent free in our heads.

During the last couple weeks of school, we handed our older students disposable cameras and let them capture their days through their own eyes.

We loved this project so much, and we hope these photos give you a little glimpse into their perspectives, personalities, friendships, and the small moments that made up this year.

Starting with 5th grade, enjoy!

Become a student again.

Clockwise is a one-day Charlotte Mason formation experience where educators and homeschool parents step into the role of student and experience a living education firsthand.

Hosted by City School on June 4th, the day will run from 9 am to 4 pm at our school in Dove Springs.

Participants will move through the rhythms of a Charlotte Mason school day, including lessons, nature study, singing, handcraft, and shared reflection, while exploring Mason’s ideas on time, atmosphere, and human-paced education.

Lunch for adult participants and childcare are provided. Parents should pack lunch and snacks for their children.

There are only 20 seats available so grab yours at the link in our bio.

They were once 5 years old, starting school and now they are embarking on high school.

As they continue growing taller and older, we desire that they would speak to themselves with courage, perseverance, and hope.

Over the years, there have been hard lessons, long days, new friendships, failures, victories, prayers, and quiet moments of wrestling. In each of these past and soon to be future moments, the voice you listen to matters.

So we remind them again before they leave these halls:

Speak kindly to yourself.
Encourage yourself.
Remember what is true.
Remember the God who walks with you.
Remember that growth takes time.
Remember that you can do hard things.

Watching these students hold their five-year-old selves in their hands feels a little like watching time fold together at once, the child they were and the young adults they are becoming.

Both are worth celebrating.

This year’s middle school Shakespeare production was A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It ended in a room so full there was hardly space to stand, which meant a lot to our students. There was awe at their performances and laughter at their antics.

At the very end, as Puck stepped forward for his final monologue, those of us in the back got to witness alumni friends whispering Puck’s monologue together.

Not for performance. But for a shared moment. The nudges and the smiles as they brought back their own middle school memories.

A shared moment of remembrance.

What a gift to witness it. Not just what was performed and the hard work these student’s accomplished but also the lasting impact this has on our students.
