An early childhood program at our home, inspired by the principles of Waldorf education & LifeWays early childhood teachings Lindsey Falconer
Sunflower Garden, my home-based preschool which began 12 years ago in the Zilker neighborhood in central Austin, moved to the Heritage Oaks neighborhood near Dripping Springs in 2016. We live on 2.5 peaceful acres, with meadow, prairie and woods, a garden, two gorgeous chickens and one sweet lab. My work is based on LifeWays principles and practices of nurturing care, practical life skills, imagin
ative play, beautiful arts and crafts, movement games, singing and storytelling. In all but the most extreme weather, we're outside all morning, until lunch. A deep resonance with nature and the seasons threads through all we do. I graduated from LifeWays Early Childhood and Human Development Training in September 2013. It was truly wonderful, teaching profoundly and with much laughter about children, families and life. I recommend it for all parents, no matter how old your children are! You can read more about LifeWays at http://www.lifewaysnorthamerica.org/. Through the school year I take up to six children children aged one to five each day, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. There are half day and part time options, and a separate summer program of four to six weeks. I provide a mostly organic, gluten-free and dairy-free snack and lunch. Monthly fees this year are based on a rate of $50 per morning and $60 per full day. If you'd like to visit, please call, text or email me.
