Joseph’s advice to incoming students: Take the time to meet new people and enjoy new experiences! You’ll remember those better than what grade you got on an exam.

As a freshman, Joseph was involved in the Freshman Research Initiative and did quantum computing research, and after graduation, Carranza will be working at Visa as a software engineer! Congratulations ! 🤘

Miranda Portales considers her UT Computer Science community her ā€œsecond homeā€ and ā€œsecond family.ā€ During her time at UTCS, Miranda was a TA for CS 314 and a student organization president.Ā

Her advice for future students is to not overload your schedule and find organizations that fit within your interests. ā€œBeing part of different groups and meeting different people has been the most fulfilling part of my college experience.ā€

After graduation, Miranda is heading to UT Dallas to pursue a Master’s in Computer Science with a focus on cybersecurity. Congratulations, ! 🤘

UT MSAI Spotlight: Carter Leslie šŸŽ“Ā

Reflecting on his journey through the program: I thought I was going to be on my own for the majority of the class but soon discovered that there’s a very active UTMSAI discord group, along with separate channels for each class. Through them, I was able to find a community to be a part of while pursuing my degree. It’s truly been an honor and a pleasure working with, learning from, and even helping teach some of my classmates as I got further into the program.Ā

Currently a software engineer at USAA, Carter plans to transition into an AI/ML engineering role upon completion of his degree. Looking ahead, he is motivated to apply AI in ways that improve people’s lives across industries like healthcare, autonomous systems, and beyond. Congratulations Carter! 🤘

Amber’s advice for incoming students: College is such a formative experience, and you’ll grow so much in the process. Make sure to enjoy it - it goes faster than you realize! The people make the place, so invest in your support system (friends, networking, etc). It makes hard classes/times easier to get through!

After graduation, Amber will move to Chicago to begin her career as a software engineer at State Farm. Congratulations ! 🤘
