Austin Soundwaves makes learning music accessible and equitable.
Austin Soundwaves launched on October 17, 2011 by giving 41 students the opportunity to learn the violin, viola, cello, or percussion. Students receive an instrument, as well as all supplies, lesson books, and at least 10 hours of weekly instruction by expert teaching artists free of charge. Tonight the Austin ISD board will vote on the proposed budget. Here's something you can do RIGHT NOW to support fine arts programming in our city.
If you can be at the meeting in person this evening, then we would encourage you to do so. Board meetings are held at 4000 S. I-H 35 Frontage Rd., Austin, TX 78704. There is limited seating.
Public comments are scheduled from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. If you would like to make your statement in person, call 512-414-0130 to register. Even if you don't speak, your presence makes a powerful statement.

On June 18, the Austin ISD Board of Trustees will vote on a budget that includes significant reductions to arts programs across the district.

Don't mind us, we're just wondering where the year went.🥺 It's hard to believe that the eighth cohort of the Draylen Mason Fellows Program completed their journey with the culmination of their (very successful) capstone project. 🧡
We couldn't be prouder of the work they put in this year, and now it's time for their next chapter: DMFP Alumni.

When was the last time you heard Cielito Lindo performed by a full orchestra?
It was really tough to decide which part of this year's Season Finale to share, as the whole performance was such a wonderful celebration of fifteen years of Austin Soundwaves. In the end, we decided that this selection of Soundwaves Symphony and Mariachi Para Todos' first collaborative performance summed up the evening well.🧡
