Check out photos from the first Camp Paramount performance of the summer!
On June 12, campers took the stage at the State Theatre for a musical r***e featuring songs made famous by artists who have performed at the Paramount throughout the years. The program spanned generations, from Cab Calloway, who graced the stage in 1934, to Leslie Odom Jr., who visited last year.
Campers also performed songs by two artists honored with stars on the Paramount Walk of Fame: Lyle Lovett and Ruthie Foster.

On May 1st, Los Lobos shared the spotlight with three promising young musicians during their show at the Paramount Theatre. Through Anthropos Arts and Paramount Education’s Access to the Arts program, students Brandon Ramirez (percussion), Brandon Juarez (tenor saxophone), and Juan Reza (trumpet) attended the band’s soundcheck and performance and were invited to perform with Los Lobos in front of a packed house. The students also captured the unforgettable experience with a few backstage photos.
Then on May 16th, Anthropos Arts students attended a private soundcheck ahead of Chucho Valdés and his all-star band’s performance at the Paramount. Students spent time chatting with Chucho, taking photos, and later returned that evening to experience the show live.
Anthropos Arts is a local nonprofit connecting youth with professional musicians, “cultivating confidence, integrity, and life skills through musical instruction and mentorship.” Paramount Education’s Access to the Arts program partners with area schools and nonprofits to create transformative, inspiring experiences for young people through the arts.
