Interactive art pieces made by TSBVI students with local artists are on display at the “Touch the Art” Exhibit in Austin now until July 5th!

“Touch the Art” was founded by Almost Real Things with a mission to amplify the voices of those who are often left out of fine art spaces. Each spring artists collaborate with TSBVI students in Gretchen Bettes’ art class to learn from one another.

Thank you to all the incredible attendees, presenters, and exhibitors who joined us on June 4–6 in Austin. Being back together in person for the first time since 2020 reminded us just how powerful our community is when we collaborate.

We're leaving inspired, energized, and ready to be even stronger advocates for Texas students who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision. Together, we thrive!

TSBVI welcomes The Magical Experiences Arts Company (MEAC) to perform on campus! This marks over a decade of collaboration with MEAC to bring multisensory interactive theater to our students.

MEAC is celebrating 40 years of immersive art and the students love the current productions called: On a Wing & a Prayer and The Kindness of Ravens.

Braille is the legally designated default literacy medium for students with visual impairments, yet only 7.6% of Texas students who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision receive braille instruction.
