Project UPLIFT (Using Practice and Learning to Increase Favorable Thoughts) is an evidence-based mental health and wellness program for adults living with epilepsy. Developed and evaluated at Emory University with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the program teaches cognitive and mindfulness-based skillsβsuch as coping strategies, behavioral activation, and problem-solvingβto reduce depression and improve overall quality of life.
Participants meet virtually (via phone or Zoom) in small groups of 5β7 individuals over 8 weekly sessions, led by a trained UPLIFT facilitator and a peer facilitator who also lives with epilepsy. The program is free of charge and offered as part of a research study evaluating its cost-effectiveness. Participants receive $25 each for completing baseline, 3-month, and 6-month surveys (up to $75 total).
