A very special congratulations to Hayes K-8’s own Mrs. Taylor, our dedicated Database Manager, for being recognized at yesterday’s Birmingham City Schools Board Meeting!

Mrs. Taylor was honored for going above and beyond to make a difference in our school community. Her hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence help keep Hayes K-8 running smoothly each and every day.

Yesterday was an exciting first day of Summer Enrichment at Hayes K-8!

Our Pacesetters spent the day strengthening their numeracy and literacy skills while participating in engaging enrichment activities. Students also had the opportunity to enjoy our game room and work with Red Mountain Theatre, where they focused on building confidence, creativity, and communication skills.

To encourage attendance, students who are present each day are entered into a raffle for prizes. Yesterday, six students won gift cards, and we have many more prizes to give away throughout the summer!

It’s not too late to join us. We still have space available, and we would love to see more Pacesetters take advantage of this fun and rewarding summer experience!

For the past two days, our Hayes K-8 Pacesetters Cheerleading Squad participated in the Cheerleading Strength and Development Clinic at BeDriven Fit Factory!

Our athletes worked hard to develop their strength, learn proper mechanics, and build the skills needed for a successful season. The girls had an amazing time learning from the coaches, challenging themselves, and growing together as a team.

A huge thank you to the staff and coaches at Bedriven Fit Factory for investing in our Hayes cheerleaders and helping them become stronger athletes and leaders. We are excited to see them put these new skills into action this season! 📣🧡💙

Reminder: Starting next week, our schools and offices will be closed on Fridays during the summer. After July 31, we will resume a normal weekday schedule. 🗓️

Birmingham City Schools welcomed author, activist, athlete, and entrepreneur Colin Kaepernick today for a special Lumi Student Showcase celebrating the creativity, research and storytelling of middle school scholars.

Students from Green Acres Middle School, Hayes K-8 School and Phillips Academy were recognized during the showcase and had the opportunity to present their work to Kaepernick, the founder and CEO of Lumi, and invited guests! ✍🏽
